Yesterday, November 14th, the cast of Paper Mill Playhouse's The Sound of Music, directed and choreographed by James Brennan, met the press. Cast for the show includes Edward Hibbert (Max Detweiler), Anthony Fedorov (Rolf Gruber), Ben Davis (Captain) and Elena Shaddow (Maria), Chelsea Morgan Stock (Liesl), and more. According to an Equity casting notice, Broadway veteran Andrea McArdle will take on the title role in MAME twice this spring. The show will play at Pennsylvania's Media Theatre (4/17- 5/19) and Bucks County Playhouse (5/22-6/9).

OUT Magazine continued their roll-out of the coveted OUT100 today with the additions of newlyweds Thomas Roberts & Patrick Abner, Gayby actor Matthew Wilkas, and a number of musicians - including Amanda Palmer, Perfume Genius, Ed Droeste, Jana Hunter, Leif, Light Asylum and John O'Regan of Diamond Rings.

Susan Boyle just released her lastest musicals-themed album titled 'Standing Ovation,' featuring many beloved showtunes, including: 'This Is the Moment,' 'You'll Never Walk Alone,' 'Music of the Night,' and more. Opening was last night for the Lincoln Center Theater production of Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, a new play by Christopher Durang, directed by Nicholas Martin at the Mitzi E. CHAPLIN is a new musical depicting the life of film icon Charlie Chaplin, with music and lyrics by Christopher Curtis and book by three-time Tony Award-winner Thomas Meehan and Christopher Curtis, opened on Broadway on Monday, September 10, 2012. Previews began Tuesday, August 21, 2012. Warren Carlyle directs and choreographs the production. Joel Grey just visited the production and you can check out photos of him with the cast below!

The Fred Ebb Foundation (Mitchell Bernard, Trustee) in association with the Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) will present the eighth annual Fred Ebb Award for aspiring musical theatre songwriters to Sam Willmott. The award, named in honor of the late award-winning lyricist Fred Ebb, will be presented by David Hyde Pierce on Monday, November 26th from 6-8pm at a by-invitation-only ceremony in the Penthouse Lobby of The American Airlines Theater.

The cast of Newsies, the Tony® Award winning new American musical, led by Corey Cott as Jack Kelly, performed the show-stopping number "Seize the Day" in-studio on the Tuesday, November 13 episode of "Dancing with the Stars: All Stars" on the ABC Television Network. Today in 1996, the first Broadway revival of Chicago opened at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, and it continues to run at the Ambassador Theatre. Chicago is a musical set in Prohibition-era Chicago, with music is by John Kander with lyrics by Fred Ebb and a book by Ebb and Bob Fosse. Chicago's 1996 Broadway revival holds the record for the longest-running musical revival on Broadway and is its fourth longest-running show.

New York City Center celebrated the 20th Anniversary of its Tony Award-winning Encores! series on November 12 with a Gala Benefit starring Raul Esparza and Kelli O'Hara, and featuring performers who have starred in Encores!productions over the past two decades. According to Wlf Trap's official website, Jennifer Holliday, the Queen of Broadway Gospel returns to Dreamgirls, the six-time Tony-winning musical that recounts an all-girl group's rise to stardom, featuring R&B hits like "And I am Telling You I'm Not Going." The Spanish government recently put a 21% tax on theater tickets, and Spanish theatres are fighting back to keep sales up. According to the NPR, the theatre owner in a small Spanish town is avoiding the tax by selling carrots instead of tickets, then allowing his carrot customers to attend a performance for free.

Featuring book and lyrics by Kathie Lee Gifford and music by David Pomeranz and David Friedman, Scandalous began performances at Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre (250 W. 52nd St.) on October 13, 2012. 2012 Academy Award® winner Christopher Plummer recreates his Tony Award-winning role in the film adaptation of BARRYMORE, directed & adapted by Érik Canuel, which will be theatrically released jointly by BY Experience and Image Entertainment beginning Thursday, November 15 in New York and Los Angeles. BARRYMORE is based on the play by William Luce.

Michael Fienstein, beloved by theatre and cabaret fans everywhere, announced earlier on his Facebook page that his father, Edward Feinstein, recently passed away. BroadwayWorld sends our condolences to the Feinstein family.

Manhattan Theatre Club announces that Academy Award winner F. Murray Abraham will join the cast of GOLDEN AGE, the new play by four-time Tony Award winner Terrence McNally, directed by Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie.
