Happy Birthday Charles Dickens! An English novelist, Dickens is generally considered the greatest of the Victorian period. Dickens enjoyed a wider popularity and fame than had any previous author during his lifetime, and he remains popular, having been responsible for some of English literature's most iconic novels and characters. Many of his writings were originally published serially, in monthly instalments, a format of publication which Dickens himself helped popularise. Many of hisworks have been turned into Broadway shows, including: Oliver!, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, A Christmas Carol, a Tale of Two Cities, and more.

The Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning hit musical JERSEY BOYS will play its 3,000th performance on Broadway today, Thursday, February 7. JERSEY BOYS is the 18th longest-running show in Broadway history, having surpassed the record previously held by Hello, Dolly!.

As BroadwayWorld previously announced, country music icon Carrie Underwood is slated to portray the role of Maria von Trapp in NBC's upcoming live holiday broadcast of The Sound of Music in 2013. According to the Wall Street Journal, original Maria, Julie Andrews fully supports the remake of the classic film.

Two-time Academy Award-winner Tom Hanks will soon make his Broadway debut in Lucky Guy, the final work by three-time Academy Award-nominee Nora Ephron and directed by two-time Tony Award-winner George C. Wolfe. According to Bloomberg, the movie star could rake in up to $150,000 a week for his role. Hanks will bring in 12.5 percent of the weekly box office earnings, with a $75,000 minimum. Additionally, if the show extends and another actor replaces Hanks, he will still earn 2 percent of ticket sales.

The U.S. premiere of "Backbeat" just opened at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre. The dramatic new play with music about the birth of one of the greatest rock 'n' roll bands in history, the Beatles, continues through March 1, 2013. (Preview performances began on January 20.). Proof, the 2001 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play by American playwright David Auburn will be presented for 8 performances only at the Gene Frankel Theatre (24 Bond Street - between Lafayette & Bowery). Produced by an ensemble of independent New York actors and artists, performances will begin on Thursday, February 21st and continue through Sunday, March 3rd.

Signature Theatre presents The Dance and the Railroad written by David Henry Hwang and directed by May Adrales. All tickets for the initial run of the production are $25 as part of the Signature Ticket Initiative: A Generation of Access. The production runs through March 17, 2013 with a February 25 opening night in The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). The international smash hit comedy where outrageous and true celebrity memoirs are acted out live on stage by some of the funniest people in entertainment, Celebrity Autobiography is an evening of jaw-dropping, hard-to-believe vignettes excerpted straight from actual celebrity tell-alls: from the 'he-said, she-said' accounts of Burt and Loni; signature mash-ups that combine the "Mom"oirs of famous moms such as Ivana Trump, Kathie Lee Gifford and Kris Jenner; a music memoir segment combining the words of Bieber, Beyonce and beyond; a Sports Match Up with Arnold, Tiger, and Namath; Cher, Streisand, Dolly and Celine Dion all expressing their passion for food; LL Cool J, Miley Cyrus, and Ricky Martin addressing who they 'really are;" to a hilarious ensemble "playlet" edited together from the memoirs of the most famous love triangle in Hollywood history-Elizabeth Taylor, Debbie Reynolds, and Eddie Fisher. Manhattan Theatre Club announces complete casting for its upcoming production of THE ASSEMBLED PARTIES, the world premiere play by Tony Award winner Richard Greenberg, directed by MTC's award-winning Artistic Director Lynne Meadow. The cast features Tony nominee Jessica Hecht, Tony and Emmy Award winner Judith Light, Tony Award nominee Jeremy Shamos, Obie Award winner Mark Blum, Lauren Blumenfeld (We Are Proud to Present…), Alex Dreier (Billy Elliot), Tony Award nominee Sam Robards, and Jake Silbermann ('As The World Turns').

A tense illegal arms deal in a Berlin hotel descends into sudden mayhem after a "ghost" agent named Jong-seong (Ha Jung-woo) appears on the scene.
