The New York Philharmonic will present Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel, February 27-March 2, 2013. As previously announced, the production will star Kelli O'Hara as Julie Jordan, Nathan Gunn as Billy Bigelow, Stephanie Blythe as Nettie Fowler, Shuler Hensley as Jigger Craigin, Jason Danieley as Enoch Snow, Jessie Mueller as Carrie Pipperidge, Kate Burton as Mrs. Mullin, and John Cullum as Fisher. The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Andrew Levine, Executive Producer) continues the Winter 2013 Musicals in Mufti Series with Hollywood Pinafore, with book & lyrics by George S. Kaufman and music by Sir Arthur Sullivan. Hollywood Pinafore was originally produced in 1945. Directed by Mark Kaufmann and with music direction by Beth Falcone, the cast will feature Susan Blommaert, Claybourne Elder, Jennifer Evans, Sara Jean Ford, Tom Galantich, Julie Kotarides, Dennis Parlato, Andrew Ragone, Kilty Reidy, Danny Rutigliano and Mary Stout.

Today in 1973, A Little Night Music opened at the Shubert Theatre, where it ran for 601 performances. A Little Night Music is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler. Inspired by the Ingmar Bergman film Smiles of a Summer Night, it involves the romantic lives of several couples. Since its original 1973 Broadway production, the musical has enjoyed professional productions in the West End, by opera companies, in a 2009 Broadway revival, and elsewhere, and it is a popular choice for regional groups. It was adapted for film in 1977, with Harold Prince directing and Elizabeth Taylor, Len Cariou, Lesley-Anne Down and Diana Rigg starring.

The company of the first North American tour of Wicked has just announced that joining the show will be Jenn Gambatese as Glinda on Tuesday, February 26 in Costa Mesa, CA and Curt Hansen as Fiyero on Wednesday, March 20 in Tucson, AZ.

Eiko Ishioka, costume designer for SPIDER-MAN, is nominated for a 2013 Academy Award for her costume designs for Mirror, Mirror. Ishioka passed away last year after losing a battle with pancreatic cancer on January 21 in Tokyo. She was 73 years old. Now according to the Daily Mail, Hathaway has responded positively to the news.
