Williamstown Theatre Festival will soon present The Visit, which runs on the Main Stage from July 31 through August 17. In her Festival debut, Broadway legend Chita Rivera embodies Claire Zachanassian, the oft-widowed richest woman in the world, in The Visit. When Claire returns to the hardship-stricken town of her birth, the locals pray that her wealth will bring them a new lease on life, but the carefully plotted renewal she offers carries a dreadful price. National Theatre of Great Britain's production of Euripides' Greek tragedy MEDEA, in a new version by Ben Power, directed by Carrie Cracknell and starring Helen McCrory in the title role, is currently playing at the Olivier Theatre.

Samuel Pergande and Jillian Mueller will star as Johnny Castle and Frances 'Baby' Houseman in the North American tour of Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story On Stage. The stage musical of the worldwide smash-hit film begins performances August 26 in Washington, D.C. prior to a September 2 opening night at the National Theatre, 10 years after the original stage production received its world premiere in Sydney, Australia. North Carolina Theatre (NCT), the region's premier producer of professional Broadway musicals now celebrating 30 years, will soon present Disney's The Little Mermaid, their final show of the 2013/14 season. This will be the professional regional premiere of the production, running from July 29 to August 3, 2014 at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium in the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts. DRG Records just kicked off the release of Gerard Alessandrini's Forbidden Broadway: Comes Out Swinging! (2014 Un-Original Cast Album), produced by Grammy Award winner Hugh Fordin, yesterday at Barnes & Noble (150 East 86 Street). The cast along with writer/creator and director Gerard Alessandrini and longtime Forbidden Broadway illustrator and CD cover artist Ken Fallin, were on hand to sign the CD and for performances. Her Off-Broadway credits include The Fantasticks, Box Office of the Damned, Scapin, Strike Up the Band, A New Brain, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, Candide, The Apple Tree, Stairway to Paradise, Love, Loss and What I Wore and many more. She will soon return to Broadway in On the Twentieth Century.

Today in 2008, A Catered Affair closed at the Walter Kerr Theatre, where it ran for 116 performances. A Catered Affair is a musical with a book by Harvey Fierstein and music and lyrics by John Bucchino. It is based on both the 1956 film The Catered Affair written by Gore Vidal and the original 1955 teleplay by Paddy Chayefsky, set in 1953 in the Bronx. John Doyle directed the production, which starred Fierstein, Faith Prince and Tom Wopat.

Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman's Pulitzer Prize-winning play You Can't Take It With You will begin previews on August 26, 2014, at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street), with an opening night set for September 28, 2014. The production will be directed by six-time Tony Award-nominee and Drama Desk Award winnerScott Ellis (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Twelve Angry Men, 1776) and will play a limited run for 19 weeks only. Today in 1975, A Chrous Line opened at the Shubert THeatre, where it ran for 6137 performances. A Chorus Line is a musical about Broadway dancers auditioning for spots on a chorus line. The book was authored by James Kirkwood, Jr. and Nicholas Dante, lyrics were written by Edward Kleban, and music was composed by Marvin Hamlisch. With nineteen main characters, it is set on the bare stage of a Broadway theatre during an audition for a musical. The show provides a glimpse into the personalities of the performers and the choreographer as they describe the events that have shaped their lives and their decisions to become dancers. The original Broadway production received 12 Tony Award nominations and winning nine of them, in addition to the 1976 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Presented three-quarter arena style, this exciting new production is led by Lauren Lukacek (Maria) and Robert Teasdale (Captain von Trapp). The 12th annual Broadway Stands Up for Freedom benefit concert was a bona fide smash. A cast of Broadway's finest - including Lena Hall, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Condola Rashad, and Robin de Jesus took the stage at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts on Monday, July 21, 2014 to celebrate the work of the New York Civil Liberties Union.

Happy Birthday Daniel Radcliffe! Radcliffe is best known for playing the title role in all eight of the blockbuster Harry Potter films. In 2008, he made his Broadway debut to much acclaim in EQUUS. Radcliffe won BroadwayWorld.com's 2009 Theatre Fans' Choice Award for Best Leading Actor in a Play for his role in EQUUS. He returned to Broadway in March 2011 with HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING, and was succeeded by Darren Criss, and later Nick Jonas. He most recently led the Broadway production of THE CRIPPLE OF INISHMAAN, which just concluded its limited run at the Cort Theatre.
