Violinist Jennifer Koh brings her Bach and Beyond recital concept to CD with Bach & Beyond Part 1, released by Cedille Records. The album is the first in a three-part series of studio recordings based on her challenging and inventive recital series that explores the history of the solo violin repertoire from Bach's six Sonatas and Partitas to modern day composers including newly commissioned works. The album is currently available for digital download and will be available on CD on Tuesday, October 30.

Celebrating, and empowering, through works from some of the nations most artistically significant Black female voices, KTC's Skylight Theatre is providing a home for this unique five-week production. Featuring new plays, visual arts, and community events, collaborators have created this platform for encouraging Black women to self-identify as dynamic, expressive, and nurturing contributors to society.

Called "the feel good show of the year", The Needemann Brothers bring their hilarious antics to New York City's premier cabaret theater, The Triad on October 24th at 7pm. The production features never-before-seen material, and decades of popular song. The Needemann Brothers are a two-man musical comedy cabaret act from the west coast featuring Anthony Bollotta, and television, film actor, Jorge Luis Abreu. Musical direction and accompaniment is by off-Broadway composer Rayme Sciaroni, one of the song writers for Naked Boys Singing.

Innovative music group, Art of Time Ensemble, launch their most dynamic and entertaining season yet with The War of the Worlds. Inspired by Rosa, Soledad's mother, the term "Quebradas" literally translates into "women turning oneself inside out." It is also a flamenco dance term that refers to a dance move that only women perform, which requires a woman to perform with her chest off its axis.

'Blood Brothers,' one of the longest-running musical productions in the history of theater, will be staged at West Springfield's Majestic Theater September 13 - October 28, according to Producing Director Danny Eaton, who will also direct the play. The play launches the 16th season of theater since the Majestic's revival in 1997.

BROOKLYN, NY - Brooklyn's first festival to showcase the borough's emerging artists in theater, dance, and voice will premiere this fall and features, among other cutting edge artists, the Irondale Ensemble who will be performing in their beautiful home, the Irondale Center and other venues across the borough. The Irondale Ensemble will be presenting a minimally staged, version of their spring smash "Color Between the Lines" part of the In Pursuit of Freedom project.

On Saturday, September 29, David T. Little's long-awaited debut full-length opera, Dog Days, created in collaboration with librettist Royce Vavrek, and based on the eponymous short story by Judy Budnitz (1998), receives its world premiere, opening a run of five performances: Sep. 29, Oct. 6 at 8:00 PM; Sep. 30, Oct. 7 at 3:00 PM; Oct. 5 at 7:30 PM. The fully-staged production, directed by Robert Woodruff, premieres at Montclair State University's Alexander Kasser Theater in Montclair, NJ.

Penumbra Theatre Company announced today that it has decided to temporarily suspend programming due to an immediate cash flow challenge. If the fall fundraising efforts are successful, Penumbra will present SPUNK, an adaptation by George C. Wolfe of three tales by Zora Neale Hurston in March 2013 along with the popular Let's Talk Theatre and REEL Talk events. However, strong dedicated support for the Penumbra Summer Institute, a three-year arts education and leadership training program, will enable that program to continue as scheduled.

Frank Dain returns to the cabaret stage beginning Saturday with his first solo show in 13 years. In four performances at the Metropolitan Room, 34 West 22nd Street, Dain premieres "The Magic of Mathis," bringing fresh interpretations to Johnny Mathis signature songs. Contributing creative arrangements is Dain's frequent collaborator, Musical Director Kathleen Landis. The multi-award winning director/entertainer Lennie Watts directs. Performances are Saturdays, September 8 & 15 at 7pm, and Fridays, September 21 & 28 at 7pm.
