Chesapeake Shakespeare Company, Maryland's leading professional classic theatre company, announces its 2011-2012 season with productions of Our Town, The Merchant of Venice, Pride and Prejudice, and Romeo and Juliet.

Playwright Michael Patrick Flanagan Smith focuses on the last thoughts of Woody Guthrie in his new play with music, 'Woody Guthrie Dreams,' directed by Isabel Milenski, that will be presented by Theater for the New City from September 8 to October 1, 2011.

On Wednesday, August 31 the monthly sketch comedy group Beaches 2 will present their best sketches from the past ten months. Featuring special guest, hilarious stand up comedian Kristeen von Hagen! The show, presented by Horse Trade Theater Group will play at UNDER St. Marks (94 St. Marks Place between 1st Avenue and Avenue A) at 9pm. Tickets ($5) are available at the door.

Tickets for California Musical Theatre's production of Bingo, the Winning Musical go on sale Saturday, August 6.

The Denver Center for the Performing Arts will host its 32nd annual signature fundraiser, Saturday Night Alive, on March 3, 2012, with entertainment by legendary Three Dog Night. News of the headliner was announced at a kickoff party August 4. Ryta and Steve Sondergard are chairing the event with corporate chairs Peter and Janet Swinburn. Peter Swinburn is the President and CEO of Molson Coors Brewing Company. Event sponsors signed to date include Molson Coors Brewing Company, Century Link, United Airlines and Epicurean Culinary Group.

Performances begin this Sunday, August 7th for the Broadway transfer of the Kennedy Center's acclaimed production of James Goldman and Stephen Sondheim's FOLLIES, directed by Eric Schaeffer, with choreography by Warren Carlyle and music direction by James Moore. FOLLIES will open on Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Marquis Theatre (1535 Broadway).

Tribe of Fools is bringing the premiere of Heavy Metal Dance Fag to this year's Philly Fringe. The show is a satirical exploration of identity, sexuality, bullying and gender roles. Tribe of Fools puts their signature movement style and generous amounts of comic dancing into this story about South Philly dock worker Timmy Bagley, or T-Bag as his friends call him, who has a secret love of dancing - to 80's hair metal. One of the most successful comedies in recent years, Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn's YES, PRIME MINISTER has played to sell out audiences at Chichester Festival Theatre and the Gielgud Theatre last year followed by a UK wide tour this Spring and is currently playing at the Apollo Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue. At the end of the current run on September 17th, the production will pack up at the Apollo and move next door back into The Gielgud Theatre for a final 8 weeks.
