After a landmark year which yielded an unprecedented Centennial Season and the coveted Regional Theatre Tony Award®, Cleveland Play House (CPH) is following up on the heels of the past year's success with a dynamic, stimulating and engaging 2016-17 Season.  CPH staff, led by Artistic Director Laura Kepley, announced the titles of the new season today on the Allen Theatre stage to a full house.  The theme of this season is "moving forward" and audiences will have plenty to look forward to with a season that encompasses history, mystery, comedy, drama and even a brand new Disney musical.  CPH's 101st Season would not be possible without CPH's generous sponsors, donors, patrons, and community partners.

On Tuesday, March 8, facilities supervisors at historic Masquers Playhouse in Point Richmond, CA, discovered major damage to the theater's primary interior support structure. An immediate investigation determined that the theater should not be reopened to the general public until its structural integrity is restored. By all current indications, this process will take months on end.

BRIGHT STAR's writing team Steve Martin and Edie Brickell appeared on CBS Sunday Morning with Rita Braver to talk about their collaboration on the musical, which is now in previews on Broadway. Check out the video here!

Broadway's 40 theatres aren't the only places to catch performances from your favorite stars! Well after Broadway orchestras begin their overtures, ensemble members take their dance breaks, and performers belt out their eleven o'clock numbers, the party continues at various cabaret venues throughout New York City. Don't forget that tonight, Sunday, March 20, 2016 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed), THE PASSION will be aired live from New Orleans on FOX! Hosted and narrated by actor, writer, producer, director and New Orleans native Tyler Perry ('The Haves and The Have Nots,' 'Gone Girl'), THE PASSION tells the 2000-year-old story of the last hours of Jesus Christ's life on earth. 

Hugh Jackman and Luke Evans visited the Jonathan Ross Show this week. While they were there, they had a sing-off to determine which of the two is the best Gaston, given that Gaston was one of Jackman's first stage roles and that Evans is set to play Gaston in the upcoming live action BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. Check out the video here!

To close their 49th season, Reston Community Players presents the classic drama, OUR TOWN, recipient of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, by Thornton Wilder from April 22 through May 7, 2016.

Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey's new musical adaptation of FREAKY FRIDAY is set for a second regional production at the Cleveland Playhouse for the spring of 2017. This announcement confirms that FREAKY FRIDAY will not be heading to Broadway and will continue to follow the MTI trajectory. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the musical will also play the Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA this fall.

According to the Washington Post, the national touring cast of ANNIE got heckled this week at DC's National Theatre. The heckler attended the show Tuesday night, and is said to have yelled, 'That was terrible!' from his seat, following the number 'We'd Like to Thank You Herbert Hoover.' There were no reported reactions from the cast or the other audience members during the incident.

Broadway Babysitters announces the opening of their first Audition Drop-off Center in Midtown Manhattan at Pearl Studios, 520 8th Avenue. Broadway Babysitters is a childcare provider created to not only meet the needs of the families in New York City, but to also serve the performing artist community and their families. The new Audition Drop-off Center will be offering an Open House on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 from 11am-1pm so that actor-parents can have a sneak peek of what the service will entail. The Audition Drop-off Center will be followed by the opening of the Broadway Babysitters Babysitting Agency which is set to launch in the Spring of 2016.

Singer Jennifer Roberts will toast the 92nd birthday of legendary Broadway lyricist and composer Sheldon Harnick with a tribute show celebrating his impressive body of work. Jennifer will be joined in the special performance at New York hotspot 'Don't Tell Mama' by musical director Tedd Firth and bassist Tom Hubbard.

In honor of Daylight Savings Time, an all-new promo was shared for Disney's ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS. The film hits theaters May 27!

Comedy legend Larry David returned once again to Saturday Night Live last night as Bernie Sanders. This time, David's Sanders was eager to apologize on behalf of his supporters, saying, 'I want to thank everyone for voting for me and apologize to everyone else for making your Facebook feeds so, so annoying.
