Or did? The year is 1927 - and two couples meet for the first time since they were married. To each other... Bootleg liquor flows, and James Prideaux' clever, witty chess match, directed by Jessica Denes, revives verbal sparring to an art - with a twist. Running April 8 - 24, this weekend's performances are Friday, April 8 at 8:00 PM, Saturday, April 9 at 8:00 PM, and Sunday, April 10 at 2:00 PM.

Actor, singer and stage manager Wally Peterson died on Wednesday, March 30, according to Variety.com. Peterson died of natural causes in New York City. He was 93.

Beck Center for the Arts presents The Underpants, Steve Martin's contemporary adaptation of a turn-of-the-century satire by German Expressionist Carl Sternheim, on the Mackey Main Stage, April 1 through 23, 2011. Show times are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays. The performance on Saturday, April 9 is sold out for a private event.

Emily Bergl will return to NY with her cabaret show, 'Kidding on the Square' on April 26 and 27th. Ms. Bergl, accompanied by acclaimed musical director G. Scott Lacy, will perform at the the Laurie Beechman Theatre. She is currently starring on ABC's 'Desperate Housewives' as Beth Young, and on TNT's 'Southland,' as Tammi Bryant. She most recently appeared on the New York stage in Second Stage's 'Becky Shaw,' a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.

Join us in May for our spring 2011 production of The Secret Garden! Nominated for the 1991 Tony Awards for Best Musical and Best Score and originally starring Mandy Patinkin, The Secret Garden is based on the beloved children's book by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Orphaned in India, 11 year old Mary Lennox returns to Yorkshire to live with her embittered, reclusive Uncle Archibald and his invalid son Colin on his estate. Hidden within the grounds is a neglected garden, which beckons Mary with its haunting melodies and spirits from the family's past. As Mary and the children work with the earth to bring the garden back to life, its beauty and bounty are restored and the healing power of nature brings forth forgiveness, love, and renewal.

Lorraine Hansberry won fame with her first play, the critically acclaimed 'A Raisin in the Sun.' Hansberry was also a respected social activist during her short life. 'To Be Young, Gifted and Black,' composed after her untimely death at just age 34, recreates both her life experiences and the times that shaped her, through brilliantly highlighted scenes from her plays, letters, diaries, poems and personal reminiscences. Fast-paced, powerful, touching and funny, this kaleidescope showcases actors slipping ingeniously into and out of a variety of challenging roles spanning her life and experiences, to the ultimate confrontation when cancer strikes her. It is a major statement of the Black experience in mid-20th century America.

The American Theatre Critics Association (ATCA) has named Bill Cain's 'Nine Circles,' a harrowing play about war and redemption, the winner of the $25,000 Harold and Mimi Steinberg/ATCA New Play Award for 2011. The award recognizes playwrights for the best scripts that premiere professionally outside New York City during the previous calendar year.

David Rasche, a stage and screen veteran has joined the cast of HBO's comedy series 'Bored to Death,' according to Deadline.com. Rasche was cast in the recurring role of Bernard Morse. Morse is a West Coast rival for George Christopher, played by Ted Danson. Morese is a health nut who made his fortune in Silicon Valley.
