The Time Out New York Lounge at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues) will celebrate the Fifth Anniversary of its popular weekly open mic night, Songs at the New World, on Monday August 13th. Hot Peas 'N Butter, the family oriented, multicultural, New York City-based touring band, announces the release of their first-ever lullaby recording: Catchin' Some Peazzz. Signature Theatre (James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director) has announced that performances begin tonight for the world premiere of HEARTLESS by Sam Shepard and directed by Daniel Aukin. THE BOOK OF MORMON, winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, has announced a lottery ticket policy for the National Tour, which launches August 14 at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Denver and plays a limited engagement through September 2. In Denver, the production will make 24 tickets available for all performances at $25 apiece.

Danish band Efterklang (translation: 'remembrance' and/or 'reverberation') plays the music from its new album Piramida (release date September 25). For this collaboration with the 16-member Wordless Music Orchestra and guest conductor Matthew Coorey, Efterklang has engaged composers Missy Mazzoli, Karsten Fundal, and Daníel Bjarnason to create arrangements of the music of Piramida for the ensemble with orchestra.

On Monday, August 13, 2012, New York Theatre Barn will present NYTB in the D-Lounge, a monthly concert for emerging musical theatre writers (now in its 5th year), at the Daryl Roth Theatre. The August 2012 installment of NYTB in the D-Lounge features an excerpt from the new musical Carolina Breeze from writing team Joel Waggoner and Lori Mannette, as well as selections from the new musical Kingdom Come by Matt Webster. The monthly series is executive produced by Laura Brandel and Jason Najjoum.
