The Kimmel Center's Creative Music Program for Jazz continues its popular Meet the Masters series engaging 25+ regional student musicians, ages 11-17, in master class workshops led by world renowned jazz musicians. On Saturday, November 10, the Meet the Masters workshop is led by one of the top tenor saxophonists and flautists, Gary Thomas, in the Merck Arts Education Center from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Legendary jazz trumpeter and composer Ralph Alessi leads the master workshop on Saturday, December 22. These sessions are open to the public for interested musicians, students and teachers and jazz aficionados who would like to observe.

On Monday, November 19, Goodspeed Musicals will hold their Annual Food Drive to benefit the East Haddam Food Bank. Goodspeed will be collecting donations in the hopes that they will have another record-breaking year for participation. The need is even greater this year as the number of households served by the East Haddam Food Bank has grown once again to record levels.

Theatre Development Fund has announced that its satellite TKTS Discount Booth in Downtown Brooklyn at 1 MetroTech Center will reopen on Tuesday, November 6 at 11am. This booth has been closed since Hurricane Sandy hit last week.

Family, friends, and colleagues will gather to celebrate the life and voice of Broadway librettist Mark O'Donnell on Monday, November 12 at 3pm at Manhattan Theatre Club's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, 261 West 47th Street, between Broadway and Eighth Avenue. Doors will open at 2:30pm and the event is open to the public.

On April 15, 2013, Virginia's renowned Signature Theatre will honor the multiple Tony Award®-winning Broadway producer and director Harold "Hal" Prince with the company's fourth Stephen Sondheim Award. The award, established in 2009 in honor of America's most influential musical theatre writer and composer, will be presented at a black-tie Gala Benefit at the Embassy of Italy. The Sondheim Award Gala will benefit Signature Theatre's artistic, education, and community programs.

Today the worldwide release of the Oscar-winning song Born Free re-recorded by legendary Queen guitarist Brian May and West End and Broadway songstress Kerry Ellis, was released. The classic hit single will be sold in aid of the international wildlife charity, the Born Free Foundation.

MTV today announced that MTV News and the "Power of 12" election campaign will broadcast special, live political newsbreaks regularly throughout Election Night tomorrow, November 6, beginning at 8:30 p.m. ET / 5:30 p.m. PT on MTV and mtvU, in addition to ongoing news coverage throughout Election Day on MTV.com. The Huntington Theatre Company brings Thornton Wilder's Pulitzer Prize-winning Our Town home to Boston on its 75th anniversary in a landmark staging by Obie Award winner David Cromer (Tribes, Adding Machine). The remount of the acclaimed New York production that features a homegrown cast will inaugurate the Huntington's use of the intimate, 250-seat Roberts Studio Theatre in the Huntington's Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA.

The Utah Shakespeare Festival just finished its largest and most successful season to date for the summer and fall of 2012. The unofficial tagline of this season was, "the only thing bigger than 50 is 51" and the cast, crew, directors, designers, and management certainly lived up to the challenge. Sundance Institute today announced the seven artists selected for its 2013 Playwrights Retreat at Ucross Foundation, February 4-22, 2013. The annual writing colony at the 20,000-acre working cattle ranch outside of Sheridan, Wyo. provides a supportive environment for artists to create new work and receive guidance and reactions to it at an early stage. Under the supervision of Philip Himberg, Artistic Director of the Theatre Program, and Producing Director Christopher Hibma, the Playwrights Retreat is made possible through the generosity of Ucross Foundation.

The first show in Playhouse on Park's Children's Series "Miss Nelson is Missing" is scheduled for 13 public performances from November 10th through November 19th. Miss Nelson is Missing, the staged theater production written by Joan Cushing, is based on the very popular children's book of the same name written by Harry Allard and James Marshall. The play is geared towards children in grades K through 5 but is sure to entertain and interest audiences of all ages!

Due to a delay in the start of technical rehearsals caused by last week's storm, Lincoln Center Theater has announced that its been forced to postpone previews, by one night, of its 75th Anniversary production of the Clifford Odets classic GOLDEN BOY, directed by Bartlett Sher. Previews will now begin this Friday, November 9 at 8pm, having been originally scheduled to begin Thursday, November 8. Opening night for GOLDEN BOY will remain as originally scheduled, on Thursday, December 6 at 6:45pm, at the Belasco Theatre (111 West 44 Street), the same theatre where the play premiered in 1937. Ticket holders to the November 8 performance should return their tickets to their point of purchase for a refund or exchange.

The Jewish Museum will launch its new season of The Wind Up, a series of after-hours events with art, music, performance, drinks, socializing and more on Thursday, November 15 from 8 to 11 pm with CROSSING BORDERS: AN INTERNATIONAL BEER FESTIVAL. This international beer tasting is being co-organized by Shmaltz Brewing Company and the New York City Brewers Guild, featuring domestic brews such as He'brew Hop Manna, He'brew Genesis, and Messiah as well as a selection of beers from England, Germany, Belgium, and Italy. In addition, the virtuoso brass band Slavic Soul Party! will perform its unique brand of Balkan and Gypsy sounds melded with American jazz and soul.
