Calpulli Mexican Dance Company brings its celebrated repertoire to Pace University's Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts on Sunday December 9th, 2012 at 2PM and 6PM. The performances were rescheduled due to the impact of superstorm Sandy on lower Manhattan and across the region. The program includes a vibrant celebration of Mexican traditions in dance and live music. The company will premiere Dia de los Muertos (Day of the dead), a captivating work that evokes the unending relationship between the living and the departed with music and dance as the language that transcends. Meticulous costuming, passionate live music, and larger than life surprises are in store.

The Bickford Theatre and Playwrights Theatre are will present the A Tuna Christmas by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard. The co-production (appropriate for all ages), will preview on December 13 and run through December 30, 2012 (Press Opening: Saturday, December 15 at 8:00pm, no performances on Friday, December 14 and Saturday, December 29). The production will be directed by John Pietrowski and features Jim Ligon and Michael Irvin Pollard. Single tickets are on sale now: General Admission $45, Seniors $40, Members of the Morris Museum/Bickford Theatre Guild $38, Groups (10 or more) $30 and Students $20. Single Carrot Theatre announces plans to move to 2600 N. Howard Street, currently Mr. James' Tire Shop in the coming year. Seawall Development will reopen the tire shop as a freshly rehabilitated historic building, focused on non-profits, performance, and dining. Single Carrot Theatre, previously housed at Load of Fun on North Avenue, is the first tenant of the building. "We're thrilled to partner with Single Carrot, which is known for bringing excellent theatre and education programs to Baltimore," says Seawall partner Evan Morville. "Single Carrot Theatre has worked alongside us and selected this building as their new home. We can't wait to see what they do with the space and for the neighborhood."

Singer Frank Dain, also known to the New York community as the Editor of Cabaret Scenes Magazine, will reprise The Magic of Mathis at Don't Tell Mama, Saturdays Dec. 8th and 15th at 6pm. This show was recently nominated for a Broadway World Award in Best Tribute Show category. The Magic of Mathis brings fresh interpretations to such Johnny Mathis signature tunes as "Chances Are," "It's Not for Me to Say," "Wild Is the Wind," "Misty" and "The Twelfth of Never. " Contributing creative arrangements is Dain's frequent collaborator, Musical Director Kathleen Landis, a popular pianist who is missed by many people at the Cafe Pierre, where she entertained audiences for years. The Magic of Mathis will also include some more obscure songs, as well, such as "99 Miles from L.A.," "Yellow Roses on Her Gown," "I'll Be Easy to Find" and "Photograph," all part of Mathis's remarkable 56-year career. The show, which ran very successfully at Metropolitan Room in September, has been directed by the Multi-award winning director/entertainer, Lennie Watts.

Sundance Institute announced today the program of short films selected to screen at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, January 17-27 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah. Shakespeare on the Sound will form its fifth annual Apprentice Company in 2013 to give theater students and developing artists the opportunity to work with some of the country's leading theater artists on our summer production and beyond. Apprenticeship's will cover all aspects of professional theatre in both artistic and technical theater arts. This hands on apprentice program will provide a deeply meaningful and educational opportunity for growth and development to selected high school and college students with a demonstrated interest in theater and will give them direct access to national leaders in the field. All apprentices will create their own work and a few will have the opportunity to be featured in the main stage show.

In the third season of a multi-year Winter Festival odyssey spotlighting the symbolic power of natural elements that have inspired composers for centuries, Lacombe and the Orchestra explore air in many contexts; with the Tippett and Holst works, the program moves from the life-giving breath to the outer regions of the atmosphere.
