Matilda is a beloved story written by Roald Dahl and enjoyed by children all over the world. It's hugely popular story led Dennis Kelly to adapt the story and Tim Minchin to pen the music and lyrics for MATILDA THE MUSICAL. As it first premiered in in UK in 2010, MATILDA THE MUSICAL made its way to the United States and Broadway to debut in 2013. With the huge success in the UK and US, the show went on to tour in the US in 2015. This family-friendly show is making its way across the country and continues to entertain audience members from three to one hundred.

Bullying and parental neglect are just part of poor Matilda's young life as she tries to find her way. MATILDA THE MUSICAL is a family-fun show and is currently touring around North America.

When Nick and Nigel Bottom decided they wanted to write a new hit play, they knew they had a lot of work ahead of them. With William Shakespeare as their competition, they knew they had to be new and innovative. The hilarious show SOMETHING ROTTEN is an original musical comedy with a book by John O'Farrell and Karey Kirkpatrick and music and lyrics by Karey and Wayne Kirkpatrick. It follows their adventures in writing the first musical and the cast of characters that add to the humor of the show. Scott Cote plays Brother Jeremiah and can be called the 'villain' of the show. BWW caught up with Scott as he prepares to come to Austin, Texas with the cast to share this fun show.

Going to see FINDING NEVERLAND for the first time didn't raise any specific expectations. Having heard a little bit about it over the years, there were a few things to consider. It was the story of J.M. Barrie and how he came to write the famed Peter Pan story many years ago. It was well received by audiences on Broadway but was snubbed by the Tony Awards. But, still going in with an open mind and desire to know what the story was all about, it was pleasantly surprising.

As FINDING NEVERLAND prepares to make a stop in San Antonio, Texas, BWW chatted with Billy Harrigan Tighe who plays J.M. Barrie. Tighe shared with us the inspiration he received in portraying J.M. Barrie and what he continues to learn as he tours with FINDING NEVERLAND.

With PHANTOM OF THE OPERA playing to sold-out audiences all over the world, the current North American tour is no exception. Derrick Davis took over the role of the Phantom last year and spent a lot of time considering his dream role. While playing the famed Phantom, Davis chatted with BWW about his take on the character and what life lessons he's learned along the way.

Dom Kelly grew up around music. As part of the group, A Fragile Tomorrow, Dom along with brothers Sean, Brendan and friend Shaun Rhodes, Dom has travelled all over the world performing and entertaining. From the time he was 11 years old, Dom enjoyed the opportunity to make music with his band. With many challenges and obstacles to overcome early in their lives, A Fragile Tomorrow has been a source of strength for the family. Dom Kelly decided it was time to try to make some music on his own and his first solo album entitled “Everything is Just Enough” will be released on April 7, 2017. BWW caught up with Dom recently as he shared his thoughts and insights on his first album.

So many performers took to the stages all over Austin to show off their many talents and SXSW attendees were thrilled with the opportunity to discover so much new and not so new talent.

SXSW saw a lot of opportunities for new films and documentaries to be premiered. One in particular was a documentary called MAY IT LAST: A PORTRAIT OF THE AVETT BROTHERS that explored the Avett Brothers' journey into making their latest album that was recently released called “True Sadness.” In creating this documentary, directors Judd Apatow and Michael Bonfiglio wanted to share all aspects of the lives' of the Avett Brothers and their band.

BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL tells the true story of King's rise to fame as being part of a songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin. With such hits as 'The Locomotion,' 'Up on the Roof,' '(You Make Me Feel Like) a Natural Woman,' and 'I Feel the Earth Move,' BEAUTIFUL blends King's life with the music that helped define a generation.

How can one cover all the events of SXSW and keep up the schedule for an entire week? It's impossible to see everything. You are bound to miss things you wished you could have seen. And sleep, don't even worry about that. You can sleep when it's all over.

BEHIND THE CURTAIN: TODRICK HALL takes a look at making of a musical starring Todrick Hall and a host of characters. It explores the dreams of a young gay African American man growing up in Texas and how he overcame many obstacles in his life.

Recently, BWW, had a chance to chat with actor, Ben Fankhauser who plays Barry Mann, to discuss the show, his role and how BEAUTIFUL is bringing in audiences of all ages as it travels around North America.

With the 20th Anniversary of RENT currently touring North America, audiences are enjoying this production that is close to the original Broadway production. Kaleb Wells plays Roger who struggles with his own personal demons as he follows his dreams. Wells is living his dreams as he portrays Roger during this production.
