The Broadway premiere of David Mamet's A Life in the Theatre, starring Patrick Stewart and T.R. Knight began previews on September 21st, 2010 and officially opens on Tuesday, October 12th at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 W. 45th St.). As BroadwayWorld has previously reported, production for the highly anticipated remake of Footloose is now in production in anticipation of an April 2011 release date. Julie Taymor is at the helm of a new film adaptation of THE TEMPEST, to be released this winter. The film was shot in Hawaii with stars Helen Mirren (Prospera), Alfred Molina (Stephano), Ben Whishaw (Ariel), Felicity Jones (Miranda), Russell Brand (Trinculo), Djimon Hounsou (Caliban), Alan Cumming (Sebastian), Chris Cooper (Antonio), and David Strathairn (Alonso). Producers Whoopi Goldberg and Stage Entertainment announced today that the new Broadway musical, SISTER ACT, will play the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway) this spring. Preview performances are scheduled to begin on March 24, 2011. Opening night is confirmed for Wednesday, April 20, 2011. Casting and on sale date will be announced shortly.

RAIN - A Tribute to The Beatles On Broadway has been extended by popular demand and will now run through Sunday, January 9 at the Neil Simon Theatre (250 West 52nd Street). Previews begin Tuesday, October 19 with the official opening scheduled for Tuesday, October 26 at 6:30 PM. Tickets for the additional week go on sale this Friday, October 8.

Scott Siegel has announced via his blog that he will present Marc Kudisch in concert at The Town Hall on January 15, 2011 at 8:00pm. The concert is entitled The Lower Depths: A Concert In Defense of the Baritone Voice.

On September 10, Spider-Man Reeve Carney introduced the first song from the upcoming Broadway show, 'Boy Falls From the Sky' on Good Morning America. Carney performed the song, composed by Bono and The Edge at the Hudson Theatre in the Millennium Hotel, with the performance broadcast live during the 8am-9am hour.
