Tonight, stage and screen icon Liza Minnelli will make her debut on Donald Trump's The Apprentice. For the challenge, contestant Clint was responsible for leading a team to service Minnelli at one of her concerts. Two time Tony Award-winning Goodspeed Musicals, under the leadership of Michael P. Price, is thrilled to announce the 2011 musical season at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, Conn. The 48th season includes three fantastic musicals that are sure to delight theatregoers: the tap dance filled Gershwin tuner My One And Only will run from April 15 - June 25; the monumental American classic Show Boat featuring such memorable songs as 'Ol' Man River', and 'Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man' will run from July 1 - September 11; and the film noir style musical comedy City of Angels will run from September 23 - November 27.

Originally schedule for a limited 12 performance run, Donny & Marie - A Broadway Christmas will now play 21 performances on Broadway. As viewers and now non-viewers alike know, Conan O'Brien has enjoyed parodying Julie Taymor's production of SPIDER-MAN regularly on his late night show. In fact, as BroadwayWorld has previously reported, the team behind the Broadway musical SPIDER-MAN hasn't been amused by the constant late-night jokes about the show and recently sent bouquet of flowers from the production which said, 'We hope you enjoy the flowers. It was cheaper than a cease-and-desist.'

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS has just wrapped the 22nd Annual GYPSY OF THE YEAR COMPETITION at the New Amsterdam Theatre. The competition began yesterday, December 6. The proceeds from the event, a dazzling once-a-year variety show filled with lavish musical numbers, original skits and Broadway stars, will benefit BC/EFA. This year's GYPSY OF THE YEAR was hosted by Broadway personality Seth Rudetsky ('Seth's Big Fat Broadway' on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio). The results are in and the grand total raised for BC/EFA amongst Broadway, Off-Broadway and touring shows is $3,776,720!

Variety reports today that GLEE star Chris Colfer will be making his film debut in Struck by Lightning, a comedy produced by David Permut ('Youth in Revolt'). Colfer wrote the script for the film, which will go into production next summer with a director to be announced. No other casting details have been released.

Virginia's Tony Award-winning Signature Theatre begins its run of the legendary Hollywood musical Sunset Boulevard this evening, December 7th - and runs through February 13, 2011. Headlining the production - the area's first staging of the Tony Award-winning musical - is Broadway's Florence Lacey (Evita; Hello Dolly!; Signature's Follies) as the tragic silent film star Norma Desmond. Ms. Lacey is complemented by D.B. Bonds (The Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, Signature's The Visit) as Joe, Susan Derry (Wonderful Town) as Betty, and Ed Dixon (The Iceman Cometh, The Three Musketeers) as Max von Mayerling. Established by The Academy's National Trustees in 1973, the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame was created to honor recordings of lasting qualitative or historical significance that are at least 25 years old. Recordings are reviewed annually by a special member committee of eminent and knowledgeable professionals from all branches of the recording arts, and final approval is made by The Recording Academy Trustees. Two stars of the stage - Kelli O'Hara and Nathan Gunn -will join the New York Philharmonic for an evening of songs and duets from the Golden Age of Broadway, conducted by Tony Award winner Ted Sperling, Monday, March 21, 2011, at 7:30 p.m. Ms. O'Hara, fresh off her highly successful run as Nellie Forbush in South Pacific at Lincoln Center Theater, returns to the New York Philharmonic following two previous appearances, including her acclaimed starring role as Eliza Doolittle in the Orchestra's 2007 production of My Fair Lady. Baritone Nathan Gunn returns after winning hearts as the swashbuckling Sir Lancelot in the Philharmonic's 2008 Camelot production and his featured role in last season's SONDHEIM: The Birthday Concert! The Philadelphia engagement of the Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning musical JERSEY BOYS broke the box office record at the Forrest Theatre for the sixth time, grossing $1,451,273 for the week ending November 28. This tops the previous record of $1,401,420, which they set the week ending November 21.
