An impressive festivity of Contemporary Christian Music returns to Carowinds this year, featuring powerhouse band Newsboys as SonFest 2010 takes place on Saturday, June 12, at Carowinds' Paladium Amphitheatre. The concert will also feature Family Force 5, Remedy Drive, Tenth Avenue North, Fee, and speaker Mike Pitt.

One of Christian Music's longest-running touring rock bands, Newsboys, returns as the headliner for SonFest 2010. The group has amassed total record sales exceeding six million in its two decades together. The band has five gold albums, more than 20 No. 1 radio hits and a full mantle of Gospel Music Association Dove Awards (Christian Music's highest honor) and Grammy nominations to its credit. Newsboys has spent over 19 years together building a strong rock presence while remaining in tune with their Christian beliefs.

Family Force 5 (often abbreviated FF5) is a Christian crunkcore band from Atlanta, Georgia. Three of the band members are brothers. In 2006, the band released their first full length album Business Up Front/Party in the Back which was an instant hit both in Christian and mainstream markets. In 2008, the band released the album Dance or Die and immediately skyrocketed into headlining concerts throughout the US. FF5 was nominated for two Dove Awards for Christmas Album of the Year (2010) and Rock Album of the Year (2007).

SonFest tickets are currently on sale. Your SonFest admission includes entrance to all of the concerts and admission to Carowinds on June 12. Carowinds is a 122-acre amusement and water park featuring more than 50 great rides, attractions, and shows.

New in 2010, Carowinds will debut IntimidatorTM, the tallest, fastest, and longest coaster in the Southeast, inspired by racing legend Dale Earnhardt. The $23 million scream machine debuts as Carowinds' 13 roller coaster and is the Park's largest capital investment ever made, and will open when the Park opens on March 27.

Carowinds is owned and operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, a publicly traded partnership that is listed for trading on The New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "FUN."
