Harris: 'I will not be performing a duet with Martin Short to open the Oscars.'

Contrary to previous speculation, it seems Neil Patrick Harris will not be opening the Oscars ceremony on Sunday in a musical number with Martin Short.  

The How I Met Your Mother star and Broadway vet took to his twitter to clear up the rumor, tweeting: 'I will not be performing a duet with Martin Short to open the Oscars. Misinformation, I'm afraid. Should I maybe pull a Kanye, mid-show?"

Yesterday, the internet was abuzz with the news that Harris and Short would perform an original production number choreographed by Oscar Ceremony producer Adam Shankman. 

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2009 will be presented on Sunday, March 7, 2010, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center®, and televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5 p.m. PT/ 8 p.m. ET. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 200 countries worldwide.
