Clooney's FARRAGUT NORTH Adaptation Begins Filming in Feb.January 12, 2011George Clooney's upcoming film adaptation of the off-Broadway play Farragut North, entitled Ides of March, starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, Ryan Gosling, Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood will begin filming next month. Clooney revealed his intentions to direct a film version of the play over three years ago. No release date has been announced.
Schwartz to Team with Rahman on Dreamworks Animated MusicalJanuary 12, 2011Variety reports this morning that Wicked's Stephen Schwartz has teamed up with Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours composer A.R. Rahman on a new animated musical film for Dreamworks Animation entitled, Monkeys of Bollywood. Husband and wife Gurinder Chadha and Paul Berges are producing. The project, if fast tracked, will be the first musical animated feature under the Dreamworks banner.
New York Observer Reviews SPIDER-MANJanuary 12, 2011Back at Christmas, Newsday and Bloomberg were the first publications to release reviews of Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, despite the fact that the show is not set to open until next month. But, in the words of Newsday critic Linda Winer: 'After four premiere push-backs (now to Feb. 7), four high-profile injuries, 19 previews at full price ($75-$150, almost double through brokers), and public investigations by state and federal safety agencies, it seems that critics are now the only interested parties who can't see the bride before the wedding.' Both the Newsday and Bloomberg reviews were lukewarm, with Bloomberg critic Jeremy Gerard noting: On the evidence of what I saw, the second act still has yet to be completed. We might expect more of a show that has been in the works for almost nine years.'

Times Square Theater Likely to Get a New Lease on LifeJanuary 11, 2011The New York Post reports this morning that at long last, the former Times Square Theater, which has stood vacant for nearly two decades on 42nd Street, may get a new lease on life. The 30,000 square foot space, which is located at 217 W. 42nd Street between 7th and 8th Avenues, will become what will be known as Broadway 4D, a multimedia venue which allegedly an insider describes as'a kind of Las Vegas version of Broadway past and present.'
Tiffany & Hogget to Helm ONCE on Bway; Creative Team AnnouncedJanuary 10, 2011Smuggler Films partners, John N. Hart & Patrick Milling Smith and film and theatre producers, Fred Zollo and Barbara Broccoli & Michael G Wilson have announced the creative team for upcoming stage adaptation of the 2007 Academy Award-winning film ONCE, coming to Broadway in Fall 2011.
