Now celebrating its 20th Anniversary, The Blank Theatre's Nationwide Young Playwrights Festival has chosen 12 plays by young playwrights, aged 9 -19, from nine different states. The Amoralists have announced the World Premiere of The Bad and the Better, written by Derek Ahonen, directed by Obie Award winner Daniel Aukin and featuring The Amoralists acting ensemble. The acclaimed downtown theater company moves uptown for a 6-week Off-Broadway run from June 14 - July 21, 2012 at The Peter Jay Sharp Theater, located at 416 West 42 Street between 9 and 10 Avenues in New York City. THE AMERICAN PLAY by Ashley Jacobson (developed by Ashley Jacobson and Alexandra Siladi) is the sinister tale of a burgeoning friendship in an increasingly sociopathic society hell-bent on making monsters of its men and objects of its women. The world premiere of this original theatrical work, inspired by Bret Easton Ellis' novel American Psycho, coincides with the 20th anniversary of the book's publication, 6/4 - 6/23, 2012.
