METAMORPHOSES & CONSTABLE Set for June-August at Frist Center, NashvilleMay 23, 2012It's officially summer come June and this summer season promises to be an active one at the Frist Center. Next month kicks off with the opening of Metamorphoses: Drawings by Erin Anfinson, Kristi Hargrove, Mark Hosford, and Chris Scarborough in the Conte Community Arts Gallery, and is shortly followed by the opening of Constable: Oil Sketches from the Victoria and Albert Museum on June 22. The Frist has collaborated with Watkins College on an quilting workshop with edgy quilter Ben Venom and the second installment of Frist Fridays on June 29th features Sam Bush with special guest Lera Lynn.
David Snider to Join Arena Stage as Director of Artistic Programming July 2012May 23, 2012Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater's Artistic Director Molly Smith has announced that this July 2012 D.C.-area arts manager and artist David Snider will become the company's Director of Artistic Programming. Snider will be leaving Young Playwrights' Theater (YPT), where he has served since 2005 as producing artistic director and CEO, to bring his multi-faceted, award-winning talents to the artistic team of Arena Stage.

Matt Toka to Release Self-Titled EP on 6/12May 22, 2012Punk/pop artist/upstart MATT TOKA will release a self-titled EP through Warner Bros. Records on June 12th. The six-track EP includes the studio versions of previous YouTube-only tracks '666' and 'Ode To My Family,' as well as 'Say10,' which is currently available via all digital retailers. Sideshow Announce World Premiere of Calamity West's THE GACY PLAY for 6/28-7/29May 22, 2012Sideshow Theatre Company delves into the reality and fantasy of one of America's most notorious serial killers, in the world premiere of Chicago playwright Calamity West's The Gacy Play.
