Performing Arts at Pace University Presents An Evening with Zoe Caldwell, 4/23April 11, 2012ZOE CALDWELL was born in 1933 in Melbourne, Australia, and quickly became a professional actress playing "Slightly Soiled" in "Peter Pan." Telling other people's stories, using other people's words to keep audiences awake and in their seats was all she knew how to do, press notes state. She has spent the last half century learning more about her craft in many of the greatest companies of the Western World. To her credit are four Tony Awards, an OBE (Order of the British Empire), and a book "I Will Be Cleopatra" published by W.W. Norton. In 2003, she doffed her bonnet to the chancellor of Melbourne University and was made an honorary Doctor of Laws. Recently, she appeared in the film "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" and starred in David Adjmi's play "Elective Affinities."

Stefanie Batten Bland Brings New Dances to NYCApril 10, 2012Choreographer/dancer Stefanie Batten Bland has had a busy year and is poised to have an even busier future beginning with the April 19 premiere of "The Legacy of Inheritance" for Ailey II, her first work for the company, followed by the world premiere of "A Place of Sun" on May 10 and the New York premiere of "Terra Firma" at the Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC), May 17 and 18, where she has been a two-time recipient of a Jerome Robbins New Essential Works fellowship (NEW). The performances mark the first time Bland's choreography has been seen in New York since 2009.

But don't let the first half fool you, the 50s weren't as perfect as they seem on television, and this play quickly escalates into a second act with shocking changes, F-words thrown loosely about in sexually provocative (and likely offensive to some) manners, and exaggerated kisses from two main characters.

Inspired by this question -- what IS red? -- Performance Network Theatre has begun "Red All Over," a Community Art Project aimed at creating an artistic representation of Ann Arbor, using only the color red.

Joan Jonas Brings Her Multimedia Show to the McCullough Theatre, 5/4-5April 10, 2012Seminal video and performance artist Joan Jonas presents her cutting edge multi-media video performance, The Shape, the Scent, the Feel of Things, May 4 & 5 at the McCullough Theatre. Since the 1970s, Jonas has worked between various mediums, freely incorporating video, movement, music, sculpture, and the spoken word into open-end narratives. Featuring original piano score written and performed live by Jason Moran, this collaborative work evokes the American Southwest through an artistic consideration of the Hopi snake dance, a ritual that affected Jonas during visits to Arizona in the 1960s.
