Harker Jones - Page 3

Harker Jones

Harker Jones is the author of three award-winning books: the best-selling love story “Until September,” the young-adult thriller “Never Have I Ever” and the children’s picture book “The Bird Who Was Afraid to Fly.” His short thrillers “Cole & Colette” and “One-Hit Wonder” have been accepted into more than 60 film festivals combined, garnering several awards. He was managing editor of “Out” magazine for seven years and is a member of the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle, the Dramatists Guild of America, the Horror Writers Association, the Society of Composers & Lyricists, the International Society for Philosophical Enquiry and Mensa. He loves cats and carbs and would like to be a pop star but would settle for being killed in a slasher movie.

My favorite experience at the theater is seeing “Sunset Boulevard” with Betty Buckley. I didn't get to see Glenn Close in the role, but I think I lucked out because Betty is peerless.

The beloved story of dreamers and lovers in late ’80s New York is marred by poor sound and a band that drowns the players out.

Tom Jacobson’s script is a razor-sharp warning of how easy it is for history to repeat itself with long, dark shadows stretching across our country again.

Filled with puns and pratfalls, mugging and mannerisms, the energy never flags in this delightful screwball comedy

Review: WENDY'S PETER PAN at Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum

June 26, 2024

While WENDY’S PETER PAN would be better served by trimming the fat, focusing on more sharpened performances, and allowing its performers room to breathe, children, despite its evening start time, will likely appreciate the show more than adults who will take notice of its distracting bumps and pec

Review: NORA at Antaeus Theatre Company

Review: NORA at Antaeus Theatre Company

May 1, 2024

The problem with NORA is that in the longer, three-act running time of “A Doll’s House,” Nora’s world and its inhabitants would be fleshed out so that they had depth that is not evident in this adaptation.

Review: HIGH MAINTENANCE at The Road Theatre On Magnolia

April 18, 2024

Ritt raises questions about the ethical and moral quandaries of employing AI to replace humans in a distinctly human space — art — but they aren’t pointed enough to really spark conversation or suggest insights, settling instead for an amusing if slight glimpse into the near future.

Review: FUNNY GIRL at Ahmanson Theatre

Review: FUNNY GIRL at Ahmanson Theatre

April 8, 2024

FUNNY GIRL is a gold standard that has endured through the ages and the production that just hit downtown Los Angeles is a rollicking and heartfelt success.

Review: CONEY ISLAND LAND at the Theatre 68 Arts Complex

March 13, 2024

Braun’s script is never stagnant, the characters always in action, whether in a delightful literal dance party or a metaphorical pas de deux, always getting close to connecting before pulling away — or being pulled away by outside forces.

Review: FATHERLAND at The Fountain Theatre

Review: FATHERLAND at The Fountain Theatre

March 7, 2024

FATHERLAND is an unsettling reminder of how an average person can tip from sane to insane all in the name of good ol’ American patriotism, crossing ethical, moral, and legal lines with nary a hesitation.
