The Tony Award-winning actor Billy Crudup opened the world-premiere of Adam Rapp's play THE METAL CHILDREN, last night, May 19 at the Vineyard Theatre. The show, also directed by Rapp, began previews May 4. BroadwayWorld was on hand to capture the opening night curtain call and after party.

According to The Washington Post Theatre J has canceled its production of the new play 'Imagining Madoff' due to Elie Wiesel's objections. The play, written by Deb Margolin features a fictionalized portrayal of Wiesel.

According to The Guardian Drew Barrymore is signing on to direct the 'Wizard Of Oz' squel 'Surrender Dorothy.' When the project was first proposed in 2002, Barrymore was in line to star in the film as the great-great-granddaughter of Dorothy.

According to Deadline.com Disney has made a million dollar pitch deal for a live action version of 'Cinderella.' The new film will be written by Aline Brosh McKenna, the screenwriter of such hit films as 'The Devil Wears Prada,' 'Laws Of Attraction' and '27 Dresses.' McKenna also penned the upcoming film 'Morning Glory' starring Rachel McAdams, Harrison Ford and Patrick Wilson.

As previously reported international recording artist Simon Webbe will join the cast of SISTER ACT on Monday May 31. Simon will play the role of Curtis Shank, the bad-boy lover of the story's heroine Deloris Van Cartier. Shank's various job titles include nightclub owner, gangster and love machine.

Williamstown Theatre Festival Presents an all-male production of A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM June 30 through July 11. Directing the production will be Jessica Stone. Starring as Pseudolus is Tony Award nominee Christopher Fitzgerald. On May 13 Dan Le Franc was awarded the 2010 New York Times Outstanding Playwright Away for isplay SIXTY MILES TO SILVER LAKE. During the ceremony Arthur Sulzberger, Jr, publisher of the New York Times presented Le Franc the award and a check for $5,000.
