He recognized Production Stage Manager and SD native Peter Van Dyke and the cast for their national efforts for equality - especially the Fundraising Benefit 'DEFYING INEQUALITY,' that took place at the BIRCH THEATRE on Monday, August 24!

Brooklyn's Brave New World Repertory Theatre is bringing the Bard to the Boardwalk in September with two open air performances of The Tempest by William Shakespeare to be staged on the Coney Island beachfront. Two thousand folding chairs will be provided FREE of charge for audience members on the section of boardwalk adjacent to the Aquarium Education building at 10th Street, which the New York Aquarium is donating for the actors' dressing rooms.

Variety reports that Pulitzer Prize winner Doug Wright and Broadway lyricist Amanda Green are set to bring the 1997 documentary 'Hands on a Hard Body' to the stage musical.

The Flea Theater will present the World Premiere of Roger Rosenblatt's THE OLDSMOBILES. Directed by Jim Simpson, the production stars Richard Masur and Alice Playten in the title roles. Performances of this Off-Broadway limited engagement begin previews on October 1st with opening night slated for Saturday, October 17th.

The producers of 'HAIRSPRAY' have announced that Phill Jupitus, Belinda Carlisle and Sharon D Clarke have all signed to join the cast of the hit musical, currently running at London's Shaftesbury Theatre. The new cast open on Monday 26 October, with Sunday performances beginning on Sunday 8 November.
