The New Jersey Performing Arts Center raises the curtain on an exciting, expanded 2010-11 season on September 22, 2010 when classical piano superstar Lang Lang returns to NJPAC's Prudential Hall stage, which has been dubbed one of his favorite places in the world to play, as a soloist on two works, Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 in c, Op. 37, and Liszt's virtuosic Piano Concerto No. 1 in E-flat Major, with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, led by Jacques Lacombe in his second performance as the NJSO's new Music Director.

When the late summer sun goes down, the fun is just ramping up as Late Night at Taproot brings Comedy Improv to the stage. On Friday nights when the curtain closes on Man of La Mancha, Taproot's most talented comedy improvisers come out and take over the Mainstage with one goal in mind: to make audiences laugh harder than they can remember laughing before. Taproot Comedy Improv hits the stage July 16, 23 and 30 and August 6, at approximately 10:30 p.m., or shortly after the performance of Man of La Mancha ends.

Marin Theatre Company has announced an extension of their revival of Woody Guthrie's American Song. The show now plays in Marin Theatre Company's Boyer Theatre through June 27, 2010. Conceived, adapted and directed by Peter Glazer, this musical has been pleasing audiences since its premiere in 1988. It won the Bay Area Critics Circle Award for best musical in its co-production at Berkeley Rep and San Jose Repertory Theatre in 1992.

The 5th Avenue Theatre celebrated its 30th Anniversary with A Night At The 5th, the Theatre's annual Fundraising Gala, on Saturday June 19. During a glamorous evening of food, fun and entertainment, the generous patrons of The 5th gave more than twice as much money as last year's event, and celebrated the end of a acclaimed season whose highlights included four Tonys for the co-production with La Jolla Playhouse of last season's Memphis, the world-premiere of Catch Me if You Can and critically-acclaimed productions of Bernstein's On The Town and Candide.

BLOW by BLOW, a new play by Jean Bergantini Grillo based on the spirited life and tragic death of British style icon Isabella Blow, has been selected to premiere at next month's 11th Annual Midtown International Theatre Festival. Once a year, every June, like clockwork, you can hear composers weeping in North Hollywood, and threatening to call attorneys, and then kissing and making up and saying they've just had the most wonderful experience of their lives. Yes, it's time for the annual 15-Minute Musical project at the Academy for New Musical Theatre: June 28th and 29th at the Colony Theatre in Burbank. For the final project of Academy's famous writers' workshop, composers and lyricists and bookwriters are put together on writing teams and are given eight short weeks to write, revise and polish a brand-new musical written for five actors whom they've never met before.
