Kander & Ebb's (Chicago, Cabaret) Tony Award-winning musical, Kiss of the Spider Woman, is now in rehearsals at Melbourne Theatre Company ahead of its opening on Friday 22 November at Southbank Theatre.
Due to popular demand, the Melbourne season of Black is the New White has been extended until November 9, with four new performances added.
Following sell-out seasons in Sydney and Brisbane, Nakkiah Lui's Black is the New White arrives in Melbourne starring Miranda Tapsell alongside Tony Briggs, Luke Carroll, Vanessa Downing, Geoff Morrell, Tuuli Narkle, Melodie Reynolds-Diarra, Tom Stokes and Anthony Taufa.
MTC Associate Artistic Director Sarah Goodes directs Golden Shield, the first ever MTC NEXT STAGE Original to be produced, written by remarkable 25-year-old playwright Anchuli Felicia King, who this year alone will have her work performed on the stages of MTC, Sydney Theatre Company and The Royal Court in London.
An array of magnificent wildlife puppets by Dead Puppet Society will feature on stage alongside Ellen Bailey (Harrow), John Batchelor (Underbelly: Razor), Tony Briggs (Black is the New White), Emily Burton (Single Asian Female), Drew Wilson (Alice in Wonderland) and newcomer Conor Lowe in Tom Holloway's adaptation of the much-loved Australian classic, Storm Boy, when it opens at Southbank Theatre on Friday 21 June.
Sean Keenan (Wake in Fright) and Esther Hannaford (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) star alongside Gabriel Fancourt (The Hypochondriac), Glenn Hazeldine (Away), Bessie Holland (Wentworth), Robert Menzies (Macbeth), Rahel Romahn (The Principal), Katherine Tonkin (Abigail's Party) and George Zhao (The Family Law) in Melbourne Theatre Company and Sydney Theatre Company's co-production of the joyous Australian classic, Cosi, by Louis Nowra.
