CAMERATA Comes to the Concert Hall at QPAC 3/3

By:

Music lovers are urged not to miss the gala season opener for the magnificent Camerata in the Concert Hall at QPAC on Friday 3rd March.

Classique will bring Camerata together with Australian violinist Jane Peters, in a program that shimmers with classical elegance and refined romanticism. For the first time Camerata will perform Prokofiev's Classical Symphony and Stravinksy's Pulcinella Suite, highly refined works by Russian composers that look back to earlier classical era music for inspiration.

Camerata Artistic Director Brendan Joyce said, "I've admired Jane Peters immensely since I first heard her recording of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, which today, is still an inspiration and I can't wait to hear her rendition of Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto. This will most certainly be a highlight of our Season 2017."

About Jane Peters:

Ms Peters made her stage debut at age 10 and came to national attention two years later as winner of the Showcase Competition on Australian television. Described by The New York Times as a "refined violinist" with "a tone that is luminous and true" Ms Peters has wowed audiences overseas and now returns home to do the same.

About Camerata:

Founded in 1987 by acclaimed string educator Elizabeth Morgan AM Camerata has not only gone on to amass a reputation for innovation and adventurous programming, but has firmly established itself as a chamber orchestra of national significance with an outstanding track record of artistic achievement.

Camerata performs a variety of styles of music in traditional and non-traditional spaces throughout the state and delivers workshops, school talks and concerts to support the education of young string players.
