Fresh from an Award for Excellence in Cabaret at Melbourne Fringe, comedian and mother-of-three Jenny Wynter's "An Unexpected Variety Show" is set to tour Australia in early 2012.

The tour will be hectic and kid-inclusive (her family tours together wherever possible) and includes performances at Woodford Folk Festival, Adelaide Fringe, Brisbane Powerhouse and Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Jenny Wynter fuses stand-up, storytelling, song, improv and character comedy in this unique variety show about the unexpected twists in life. The show has already garnered buzz for its rare ability to make audiences laugh AND cry and has received rave reviews, with Beat Magazine describing it as "a highlight of Melbourne's Fringe Festival", and Glam Adelaide saying "if you get a chance to see (this show) you have to do it. You'll laugh and you'll be inspired."

Interesting facts about “An Unexpected Variety Show":

• The show was developed during a residency at the world-renowned Banff Centre for the Arts, Canada;
• LA's comedy guru Gary Austin, (who launched the famous comedy theatre The Groundlings and whom Helen Hunt thanked in her Oscar speech), directed it;
• Jenny wrote much of it while pregnant with her third child in Canada, where Jenny lived for two years with her young family.

"...A highlight of Melbourne's Fringe Festival. Wynter is a vivacious ball of energy with incredible control on her audience’s emotions. This one-woman show switches in seconds from hilarity to tear-jerking...captivates her audience, both male and female, from start to finish." Beat Magazine.

"Don’t see Jenny Wynter’s show without a packet of tissues and three coats of waterproof mascara – I laughed and cried (often simultaneously), at this fabulous fusion of wit, musical talent, great physical comedy and poignant storytelling. Jenny is a hugely likeable talent whose take on motherhood is as funny as you could wish for and more thought provoking than you’d expect. " – Brisbane News.
