Review: STATIC AN EVENING CASEY WIMPEE TRANSMISSIONS - A Work of Stunning Lyrical Genius Image

Theatre Synesthesia scores again with three short pieces by playwright Casey Wimpee. Directed by America Archer, and acted by a talented quartet of actors the evening of theatre is filled with a poetic rhythm that is awe inspiring and compelling.

The production includes selections from COLOR TV'S IN TIJUANA, KANSAS CITY BOOK OF THE DEAD and TAKE OUT CHINESE by playwright Casey Wimpee. Every moment of the plays are shaped to shock, amuse and entertain in a modern theatre style that is so very intense and fascinating. As much as I'd love to give a summary of the performance, I do not want to provide any spoilers. The deftly crafted production provides so many moments of sheer surprise I won't be the one to ruin that for any potential audience members. Suffice it to say that the language is powerful and the characters are fascinating, leaving the audience to ponder meaning long after the play is over.

The Theatre Synesthesia cast is amazing as always. Marci Blackwell, Nicholas Kier, Sam Lee Howard, and Devin Finn are riveting and compelling every moment. Their laser focus on the rhythm created by Wimpee's eloquent script is outstanding and needs to be seen to be appreciated. They move with a singular grace that speaks volumes and shows off America Archer's directorial skill to perfection. The show runs less than a breathless hour and when the outside door is opened after curtain call it's as if the pressure is released from a steam engine. The experience is intense. As a side note, mad props to the program design, it is clever and ties in with the script so incredibly well.

Seating is extremely limited and STATIC runs for only four more performances. So get your tickets now, for this not to be missed production. Casey Wimpee is truly an American Shakespeare and his shows must be experienced. If you are easily offended this is not the show for you, but if you possess a brave soul and a willingness to be taken on a wild lyrical ride, make your reservations today.
