Woodruff Arts Center to Host Free Family Festival Next Month

The Woodruff Arts Center announces another Free Family Festival, which will take place on March 13, from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., as part of the Family Fun at The Woodruff Arts Center initiative. The Free Family Festival will feature family-oriented programming led by the Alliance Theatre, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and High Museum of Art, including performances of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe; Kathy & Ken Bernhardt Theatre for the Very Young's The Lizard & El Sol; Alliance Live!: Family Variety Show; Music for the Very Young performances; Basquiat-inspired kite making; and more, for FREE!

In addition to the free activities happening throughout the Arts Center, the High Museum of Art will offer free admission, including access to the exhibitions Vik Muniz, Basquiat: The Unknown Notebooks, and Iris van Herpen: Transforming Fashion. The High will also present art-making inspired by the work of Jean-Michel Basquiat, and traditional Brazilian and Haitian music performances themed for the special exhibitions. The Tony Award-winning Alliance Theatre will present The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, which is based on the beloved novel by C.S. Lewis, at 1:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. and Kathy & Ken Bernhardt Theatre for the Very Young's The Lizard & El Sol. The Grammy Award-winning Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will have a special edition of Music for the Very Young: Stories in Sound, where children can go beyond their visual senses and explore how to become active listeners of live classical music. In addition, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will provide a special offer for $5 Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra tickets for March 13th participants. This Family Festival is part of the Family Fun at The Woodruff Arts Center initiative, in which families can participate in art-making, interactive musical story times, composers-in-training sessions, instrument making, drop-in acting classes and more, for FREE, every Sunday from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. In addition, families have the opportunity to experience world-class productions and exhibitions at the Arts Center.
