ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

Lisa Lisa - Lisa Lisa was one of the first freestyle music groups to emerge from New York City in the 1980s. She was signed by Columbia Records and the label released their single "I Wonder If I Take You Home." It quickly became a chart-topper on Billboard's Hot Dance/Disco chart and became one of the first cross-over hits, crossing over to the R&B chart and then to the pop chart.

Stevie B - Stevie B is an American singer, songwriter and record producer who was influential in the Latin Freestyle and High-Energy, mostly from Miami dance music scene of the late 1980s. Also self proclaimed as the King of Freestyle, Stevie B is perhaps best known for his 1990s number-one hit "Because I Love You."

Slick Rick - Slick Rick is a Grammy-nominatEd English American rapper. He began his career in 1983, in the hip hop genre, where he recorded a series of acclaimed recordings such as, "Children's Story", "La Di Da Di" and "Hey Young World." His music has been frequently sampled and interpolated by other artists such as TLC, Black Star, The Notorious B.I.G. and Snoop Dogg, with many of these songs later becoming hit singles. Slick Rick rose to stardom in an era known to fans as the Golden age of Hip Hop.

Vanilla Ice - Vanilla Ice is an American rapper, extreme athlete and now a Reality television personality. Vanilla Ice released his debut album, Hooked, in 1989. His single "Ice Ice Baby" was the first Hip Hop single to top the Billboard charts. He sold more than 7 million albums.

Tiffany - Tiffany is an American singer and former teen icon. She is most notable for her 1987 cover version of "I Think We're Alone Now," originally recorded by Tommy James and the Shondells in 1967. Released as the second single from her eponymous album, Tiffany, the song quickly became a teen anthem. Thanks to an original mall tour, "The Beautiful You: Celebrating The Good Life Shopping Mall Tour '87", Tiffany became a pop sensation and had both the single and the album peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200 charts, respectively. The singles, "Could've Been" and "I Saw Him Standing There", a cover version of The Beatles' hit, followed soon after with the former also claiming the number one position on the Billboard Hot 100.

Cover Girls - The Cover Girls is a New York City-based freestyle-urban-dance-pop girl group that achieved the majority of its chart success in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Among the group's best-known songs are "Show Me," "We Can't Go Wrong," and "Wishing on a Star."

Rockell - Rockell is an American Freestyle music, Club/Dance, Hi-NRG and Pop singer-songwriter. In the late 1990s, she had major dance hits with the songs "In a Dream," "When I'm Gone," and "Can't We Try" (a duet with Collage and remake of the Dan Hill and Vonda Shepard 1987 hit song). All of these tracks appeared on her 1998 debut album entitled What Are You Lookin' At?

Noel - Noel is a Puerto Rican American and Spanish male Latin freestyle singer born in the Bronx, New York. "Silent Morning" became his first Top-10 hit on the dance singles chart and peaked at #47 on the Hot 100 in 1987. "Like a Child" peaked at #67 in 1988, but it became his first number-one single on the dance chart. He topped the dance charts again later that year with "Out of Time."

Corina - Corina is a dance pop singer from Manhattan, New York. She released a self-titled album on Atco Records in 1991, and charted string of dance hits in the US between 1989 and 1997. The highest charting of these was the summer 1991 top-ten hit "Temptation," which peaked at #6 on the U.S. charts.

Judy Torres - Judy Torres, only referred to as the "Queen of Freestyle," is also a Dance-Pop singer who has outlasted many of her counterparts. She scored major club hits with songs like "Come Into My Arms," "Love Story," "I Love You, Will You Love Me" and "No Reason To Cry." Torres also transcended the decades with a Smash rendition of Journey's "Faithfully."

The Reunion of the Year: 3 former members of TKA - TKA was a Latin Freestyle trio that was prominent in the 1980s and early 1990s, mainly in New York City and Miami, Florida. Hailing from New York City, TKA was discovered when it sang at a sweet sixteen party in an East Harlem church in 1984. Now for the first time in over a decade, three former members of TKA will be performing on one stage.
