Pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet will join Music Director Robert Spano and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra to perform the ASO premiere of James MacMillan's Piano Concerto No. 3, "The Mysteries of Light," May 30 and June 1, at 8:00 p.m., and June 2, 2013, at 3:00 p.m., in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center. Mr. Spano will also lead the Orchestra in two compositions by Mozart: the Overture to The Magic Flute and Symphony No. 41, "Jupiter."

Mr. Thibaudet gave the world premiere of "The Mysteries of Light" - a composition based on the structure of the Catholic prayer, The Rosary - in 2011 with the Minnesota Orchestra. These performances will mark his 12th appearance with the Atlanta Symphony.

Prior to the performance on Thursday, May 30, 2013, ASO Insider and Program Annotator Ken Meltzer and members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will host a pre-concert chamber music recital from 6:45-7:30 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall. The recital is free and open to all concert ticket holders for the May 30, and June 1-2, 2013, concerts.
