Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET), North Fulton's only professional theatre company, is excited to announce a one-time only public performance for families of the world premiere Theatre for Young Audiences play, S.T.E.A.M. Team, by award-winning Atlanta playwright Topher Payne on Saturday, April 23rd at 11:00 a.m. This fun hour-long play is geared toward ages 7-13, and focuses on the popular movement incorporating Science, Technology, Engineering, ARTS, and Math into the classroom. Georgia Ensemble Theatre commissioned this play specifically to address how fun it can be to learn using art as a gateway to better understanding these important studies in our schools. The play is directed by GET Education Director Laurel Crowe. Following the show, kids will have the opportunity to meet the show's cast in the lobby and have their picture taken with them. The performance will take place at the Theatre's home at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center. Tickets are only $10 each, with reservations strongly encouraged.

Visit our website at www.get.org or call 770-641-1260 for general admission tickets. Georgia Ensemble Theatre is located at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center, 950 Forrest Street, Roswell, GA.

About S.T.E.A.M. Team:

Scout, Taylor, Elliot, Aubrey, and Misha are five neighborhood friends who take their interests in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics to solve mysteries and problems in their own back yards (and sometimes the back yards of their neighbors). When the group "grows up" and heads to middle school, though, their interests spread and they find themselves with a lot less time to play dress-up and solve cul-de-sac capers. When one of their own is targeted by a bully at the science fair, it is up to Aubrey to get the team back together for one last mystery.

Themes of project based learning, friendship, overcoming adversity, and imagination.

Biography of the Playwright - Topher Payne:

Topher Payne is the Atlanta-based author of more than a dozen plays, which have been produced across the United States. In 2014, The American Theatre Critics Association selected Topher as the country's Best Emerging Playwright. He is a two-time winner of the Gene-Gabriel Moore Playwriting Award, most recently for his play Perfect Arrangement, which debuted Off-Broadway in 2015. Three of his works had their World Premieres at Georgia Ensemble Theatre - Tokens of Affection, Swell Party, and The Only Light in Reno. The New York Times calls Topher "a deft and witty writer," and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution crowned him "Atlanta's own Tennessee Williams."

S.T.E.A.M. Team boasts a terrific cast of talented Atlanta actors, including Robert Lee Hindsman as Scout, Maggie Birgel as Taylor, Ty Autry as Elliot, Alejandro Gutierrez as Aubrey, and Shelli Delgado as Misha.

This production will be touring to schools through April and May, 2016. However, this is the only public matinee available for parents to join with their kids in sharing this unique, fun, and educational theatre experience. Tickets are available now online at www.get.org, or by calling the Box Office at 770-641-1260.
