GTA's HALF MILE DOWN Moves to Lake Lanier Olympic Venue, 8/15-17

Enthusiastic response to GTA's upcoming Discovery Series show, Half Mile Down, has prompted organizers to move the performances to the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue, 3105 Clarks Bridge Rd., Gainesville. Performances of Half Mile Down, an outdoor comic drama with an original bluegrass score, will be performed at 8:15pm, Aug. 15-17, at the new location, which will accommodate a larger crowd and simplify parking for all. Gates open at 6pm preshow picnicking and activities.

Borrowing pieces of Gainesville's history and the creation of Lake Lanier, Half Mile Down is a rollicking Appalachian love story told through folk tales and music that follows one town's struggle after learning Round Valley Electric wishes to flood their town to create a lake. As the town bands together to try to save their homes, unlikely forces collide to underscore a classic Southern story of family, hope and love - with a good helping of humor.

Audience members are encouraged to bring camp chairs, picnics, blankets and bug spray. Performances are free, but "pay what you can" donations are encouraged, with proceeds (after production costs) supporting the Soque River Watershed Association, which works to improve water quality and education about the conservation of Georgia's natural rivers.
