CRITICAL CROP TOP Kicks Off 2018 With An All Female Cast

A Night of Comedy for Queens

Critical Crop Top is starting off 2018 with a brand new sketch show written, directed, and performed by women! Their new show, "Critical Crop Top Presents: Feminine AF", features a perfect blend of sketch comedy and music, and -in a break with tradition- stand up comedy from local comedian Blaire Erskine.

"Women in America have have really been using their voices loud and clear this year and we felt like it was the right time to put together an all-female ensemble to really amplify those voices in comedy," says co-Artistic Director Nicole Kemper. After three successful sketch shows in 2017, Critical Crop Top is thrilled to extend the run of each show this year for a total of four chances to see "Feminine AF"! You won't be disappointed by this mix of classic physical comedy, political satire, and fart jokes to give audiences an evening full of thought-provoking, socially conscious comedy and pee-in-your-pants laughter.

Well known for their comedic short films, web series, and the Feminine Mistake Podcast, Critical Crop Top is a women-run Production Company on a mission to produce comedic content that gives women, LGBTQIA artists, artists of color, and other underrepresented voices a place to tell their stories. CCT uses their platform to comment on feminism, racism, and other social justice issues and empower diverse artists in Atlanta, GA to write, produce, and perform their own unique material. CCT believes that comedy brings communities together and fosters social change.

"Critical Crop Top Presents: Feminine AF" will be hosted at the historic Highland Inn and Ballroom Lounge on Friday 2/23 at 8pm, Sunday 2/25 at 7pm, Friday 3/2 at 8pm, and Sunday 3/4 at 7pm. The shows central theme focuses on social media and technology dependence as a form of escapism and the ways that this effects us as a society. Critical Crop Top attempts to shed a comedic light on the ways that online forums feed into self-image and our tendency to compare ourselves to others and how to break that cycle. "Feminine AF" also hits on the topic of female friendship, sisterhood, and the ways that women support each other and communicate.

"Women seem to have this instant bond and I think that exploring the different ways that women interact and understand each other is very funny on its own. Exploring the avenues we can use to continue to lift one another up and having a frank discussion about the ways in which we fail each other is an important step on the journey to gender equity," says co-Artistic Director Hillary R. Heath, "Feminism requires listening to each other and learning from one another and that's what we try to use our comedy to showcase." The show is written, directed, and performed by Nicole Kemper, Hillary R. Heath, Sarah Alison Hodges, Jasmine Waters, Vanessa Aranegui, Michelle Pokopac, Melissa Lee, and Aria Marra. Tickets go on sale Thursday 2/1 at www.criticalcroptop.com for $10.
