CABARET Opens Tonight at Berry College

The colorful Tony-award winning musical "Cabaret" opens tonight, Feb. 18, at the Berry College E.H. Young Theatre. This year's musical produced by the Berry College Theatre Company is directed by Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre Hannah Hammond. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 18-20 and Feb. 25-27 and 2 p.m. on Sunday Feb. 21 and 28.

"Cabaret" is set in 1931 Berlin, as the Nazis are rising to power, around nightlife at the local Kit Kat Club. The show revolves around the 19-year-old English cabaret performer Sally Boles and her relationship with the young American writer Cliff Bradshaw. The musical is based on a book written by Christopher Isherwood, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. While on Broadway, "Cabaret" won Tony Awards for best musical, best score and best revival.

Berry's production is under the musical direction of Berry alum and staff member Grace McMullen and choreography is by senior Payton Campbell. Set Designer and Visiting Lecturer Seamus M. Bourne, Costume Designer and Assistant Professor Alice Bristow and Lighting Designer Mike Morin bring 1931 Berlin to life.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for senior citizens and $5 for students and may be reserved in advance or purchased at the door. For more information, contact the Box Office at (706) 236-2263.
