Four years ago there was no place to see live club comedy in Gwinnett. Aurora Theatre was a pioneer in blazing the trail for comedy with our booming series Funny Fridays. Today, it might be a little easier to see stand-up in Gwinnett, but if you want the top comedians in the best atmosphere, Aurora Theatre continues to stay ahead of the curve.

On July 23, 2010, Funny Fridays will begin a brand new season the same way we did last year leading off with comedy legend Rob Cleveland as headliner. When a season opening act is as terrific as Rob Cleveland, there is no reason to change a thing. His style is reminiscent of comedic giants Bill Cosby and Jerry Seinfeld as he finds the silly in those everyday things we tend to gloss over.(Like, why are there Braille instructions at the drive through ATM?) Rob has performed in many Comedy Clubs across the country, including: Dangerfield's in NYC, The Improv in NYC and Los Angeles and several engagements at Atlanta's Punchline. Opening as the featured act will be Nicole Chiles who's rare combination of smart and sophisticated material are presented with original delivery and sharp timing. Born in Omaha, NE., Nicole started comedy in Boston and now calls Atlanta home.

Once again McCray's Tavern will be offering full bar service for the Funny Fridays performed in the Studio Theatre with cocktail tables to give Aurora patrons a real Comedy Club feel.

Comedian Rob Cleveland on what Aurora Funny Fridays patrons can expect, "I just drove from Atlanta to upstate New York with my wife, and teenagers (twin son and daughter), I have plenty of new material."

When asked about her goals as a comedian Nicole Chiles replied, "I am passionate about stand-up comedy, and would like to pursue this dream until I become enough of a D-list/C-list celebrity to be on Dancing with the Stars...because I am more passionate about Dancing with the Stars."
