Alliance Playwriting Competition Finalists Presented in Staged Readings

New works by the four finalists and winner of the Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Competition will be presented November 2nd through 4th, 2011. Hosted by Lark Play Development Center, this free event invites audiences to enjoy a collection of staged readings and celebrate the rich diversity of the contemporary American experience. This year's readings are made possible through the generous support of The Coca-Cola Company.

The four finalists' plays include: We Fight We Die by Tim Guillot, directed by Kamilah Forbes on
November 2 at 3:00pm; Whales by Bob Bartlett, directed by Roger Danforth on November 2, 6:00pm; Lost Cause by Alexander Maggio, directed by Davis McCallum on November 3, 3:00pm; Shoe Story by Ben Snyder, directed by Leah Gardiner on November 3, 6:00pm. A post reading discussion will follow each work.

The event will conclude with a reading of the Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting
Competition winner Meg Miroshnik's work, The Fairytale Lives of Russian Girls (or ???????), directed by Eric Rosen on November 4, 12:30pm. Following the reading, a discussion will be led by playwright David Henry Hwang. The Fairytale Lives of Russian Girls will receive its world premiere on the ALLIANCE THEATRE's Hertz Stage on February 3, 2012.
