AVENUE Q Makes Its Atlanta Return 5/18-23

By:

AVENUE Q is the smash-hit Broadway musical about real life in New York City, as told by a cast of people and puppets through a hilariously irreverent, Tony-winning book and score. The three-time Tony Award winning musical will return to Atlanta from May 18-23 at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre as part of the Atlanta Broadway Series 2009-2010 season.

Tickets go on sale March 28. Tickets can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com, by calling 800-982-2787 or at the Cobb Energy Centre box office. Prices start at $15. Orders for groups of 15 or more may be placed by calling 404-881-2000.

The performance schedule for AVENUE Q is as follows:

Tuesday, May 18 8 p.m.
Wednesday, May 19 8 p.m.
Thursday, May 20 8 p.m.
Friday, May 21 8 p.m.
Saturday, May 22 2 p.m., 8 p.m.
Sunday, May 23 1 p.m., 6:30 p.m.

AVENUE Q tells the story of Princeton, a bright-eyed college grad who moves to NYC with big dreams and a tiny bank account. The only apartment he can afford is way out on Avenue Q, where everyone's looking for the same things he is: a decent job, a stable relationship, and a "purpose." Eventually, Princeton learns to embrace the ups and downs of city life and realizes that "the real world" isn't so bad, after all!

The New York Times hailed AVENUE Q as "a breakthrough musical of a very different stripe. Savvy, sassy and delicious!" and Entertainment Weekly claimed it was "one of the funniest shows you're ever likely to see!"

AVENUE Q features music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, book by Jeff Whitty, based on an original concept by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx; and is directed by Jason Moore; puppet design by Rick Lyon, orchestrations by Stephen Oremus, choreography by Ken Roberson, scenic design by Anna Louizos, costume design by Mirena Rada, lighting design by Howell Binkley, and sound design by Lew Mead; associate director is Evan Ensign and music supervisor is Andrew Graham.

Avenue Q is produced by Work Light Productions.

The Atlanta Broadway Series, created in partnership by WH Management Group and Key Brand Entertainment, is a new series of blockbuster Broadway programming presented at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, a state-of-the-art venue that opened to popular and critical acclaim in September 2007.
