Williamstown Announces FREE Production of 'Trouble Tales'

By:

The Williamstown Theatre Festival has announced its Free Theatre production: Trouble Tales (for boys and girls).  The musical, written by Amy Herzog, with music by Kris Kukul and directed by Erick Herrscher, will play the WTF Main Stage from Monday, July 7 through Saturday, July 12.

In Trouble Tales (for boys and girls), Nina's tenth birthday is not going as planned.  The cake isn't ready, the most popular guest cancelled and Nina's brother is in the hospital -- again.  All seems lost when a mysterious stranger captures the attention of Nina and her friends.  This summer's Free Theater explores where "troubles" come from through an imaginative retelling of the Pandora myth.

The Williamstown Theatre Festival is also proud to once again produce Kids' Theatre Day on the front lawn of the '62 Center for Theatre and Dance on the campus of Williams College on Saturday, July 12 at 9:30 a.m.  Kids' Theatre Day is a free event and is open to the public.

Children of all ages can enjoy a morning of theatrical fun with games and projects to help them experience the on and off stage elements involved in theatre production. Activities will be led by the WTF's 2008 Apprentice Company, and include props and costume design, dance and basic staging, among others.

Following the events outside, kids and parents are invited to enjoy the final performance of Trouble Tales (for boys and girls), the Free Theatre production, after which the cast will join children and parents on the lawn for cake and autographs.  Families are welcome and encouraged to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy together.

For more information on Kids' Day and Free Theatre please contact the Williamstown Theatre Festival workshop office at (413) 597-3241.

Tickets for all productions at The Williamstown Theatre Festival can be obtained online at www.wtfestival.org, by calling 413-597-3400, or at the '62 Center Box Office: 1000Main Street (Rt.2) Williamstown.  Box office hours are as follows: Tuesday – Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Continuing its 54-year history under the artistic direction of Nicholas Martin, Williamstown Theatre Festival hosts award-winning actors, directors and playwrights who join forces to entertain and delight the Berkshire community of year-round and seasonal patrons. In addition to its acclaimed productions, WTF has extensive training and professional development programs for the next generation of actors, writers, directors, designers and managers. In 2002, WTF received the Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre.
