On Monday, May 21, 2007, current Broadway stars that have rehearsed at the New 42nd Street Studios will perform songs from their shows at the New Victory Theater (209 West 42nd Street) as part of the first-ever New 42 Follies, a benefit for The New 42nd Street. The revue will be hosted by award-winning actor Sam Waterston, and proceeds will benefit The New 42nd Street's many projects, including the New Victory Theater, the New 42nd Street Studios, and The Duke on 42nd Street.

Broadway stars scheduled to appear include Jason Danieley (Curtains), John Glover and Beth Leavel (The Drowsy Chaperone), Marin Mazzie (Monty Python's Spamalot), Orfeh (Legally Blonde), Josh Strickland (Tarzan), Barbara Walsh (Company) and cast members from The Color Purple and Coram Boy. Broadway producer Bob Boyett and director-choreographer Susan Stroman are the Gala Chairs for the event, which also includes a dinner following the performance.

"The New 42nd Street was established as a nonprofit organization in 1990 by the City and State of New York and charged with the responsibility of redeveloping seven historic theaters. The New 42nd Street took a bold stance when it renovated The New Victory Theater, which the organization opened and began operating in December 1995 as New York City's first and only professional performing arts venue dedicated to presenting quality works at affordable prices to young people and families," state press notes.

Individual tickets for The New 42nd Street gala are $1,000, $1,500 and $2,500, and gala tables of ten are available for $10,000, $15,000 and $25,000. Tickets can be ordered by calling Melissa Kalt at 646-223-3082. Theatergoer tickets are priced at $100 for mezzanine seats and admittance to the pre-performance cocktail reception. A limited number of performance-only tickets for the New 42 Follies are also available at $25 for balcony seats. For these tickets, please call 646-223-3010
