Portuguese fado singer Ana Moura and Spanish world music singer Buika join forces for a concert celebrating Latin song traditions at Carnegie Hall on Tuesday, April 26 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. Recognized, respectively, for their embodiment of fado and flamenco styles, Ana Moura and Buika are known worldwide for elegantly fusing these Latin genres with pop, jazz, R&B, funk, and more.

There is no other fado voice like Ana Moura's-a voice that not only roams freely through tradition, but also takes time to flirt elegantly with pop music, broadening the scope of fado in a highly personal way. Ana Moura made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2005. She's collaborated with such artists as The Rolling Stones, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Herbie Hancock, and Prince, with whom she performed at the Super Bock Super Rock Festival in Meco, Portugal. Together, they performed a Portuguese version of "Walk in Sand" and the traditional fado song "Vou Dar de Beber à Dor" ("I'll Offer Pain a Drink"). Moura is the recipient of nearly one dozen awards, which include two Golden Globes (Portugal), two Amália awards, and a Best Artist nomination for the Songlines Music Awards. Moura's sixth album, Moura, was released in Portugal in November 2015 and was immediately awarded Gold status.

Born María Concepción Balboa in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, Buika grew up within the Spanish culture with her Equatoguinean parents. Exposed to multiple cultures throughout her life, Buika has a variety of musical influences, including jazz, flamenco, pop, soul, and African polyrhythm. She is currently celebrating the release of her eighth album, Vivir Sin Miedo (Live Without Fear), in which she delivers a fearless blend of reggae, ragga, jungle, afro beat, funk, R&B, flamenco, and pop. The album features guest performances by Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Jason Mraz, German neo-soul artist Meshell Ndegeocello, and Spanish underground flamenco legend Potito.

Buika began her music career as a drummer and bassist before turning to singing. She released her first independent album of jazz standards, entitled Mestizuo, in 2000, which led to her touring Spain and eventually gaining the attention of Warner Music Spain. In 2010, she signed with Warner and has released seven more albums under the label, earning her several awards, including a Latin Grammy Award for El Último Trago (The Last Drink) and a Grammy Award nomination for her seventh album, La Noche Más Larga (The Longest Night) in the Best Latin Jazz Album category. Buika has collaborated with such musicians and singers as Pat Metheny, Seal, Nelly Furtado, Anoushka Shankar, Mariza, Bebo and Chucho Valdes, Armando Manzanero, and Charles Aznavour, among many others.
