Over a decade ago, Gabriel Ebert took the stage at Radio City Music Hall to accept a Tony Award for his performance in Matilda. Will history repeat itself this June? Ebert is a nominee once again this season for his outstanding performance in John Proctor Is the Villain.

"Young people are being lit up buy this play," he told BroadwayWorld's Richard Ridge. "A lot of them will come to be and say that their first Broadway play was Matilda! Now they're 20 and they are coming to see this. I'm so happy to be a part of their theatrical journey."

Watch as Gabriel chats more about the importance of this story, why this play is so important to young audiences, and so much more. Plus, check out who he is up against and catch up on all the latest Tony Awards coverage!

The 78th Annual Tony Awards will air on Sunday, June 8, 2025.
