Acclaimed, award winning pop vocal group Uptown Express ® celebrates the release of their new CD 'Take You There' with a concert performance on Wednesday, June 23 at 6:00pm at Barnes & Noble's Lincoln Triangle location, 1972 Broadway, New York. They will be joined and accompanied by their musical director and arranger James Followell and his band. After the performance, they will be selling and signing CDs. The group is the winner of Backstage Magazine's Bistro Award for Outstanding Vocal Group and the recipient of multiple MAC Award nominations.

Uptown Express'  new recording's eleven tracks are a showcase for what Talkin' Broadway describes as "splendid harmonies." The recording is packed with an eclectic song list that features  standards, Motown, Broadway classics, dance and contemporary Top 40 hits. With four individual voices joined as one in tight harmonies, Uptown Express goes on a journey through the American songbook and many musical genres.

The recording includes a  pairing of the Dusty Springfield classic 'Son of A Preacher Man' with Madonna's 'Like A Prayer' and the CD premiere recording of 'Love Is Love Is Love' by Grammy Award winning songwriter Julie Gold. With doo-wop/swing ('Crazy ‘Bout Ya Baby'), Broadway ('Sing For Your Supper', 'Everybody Rejoice'), Motown ('I Can't Get Next To You Baby', 'You're All I Need To Get By'), and Top 40 ('I'm Yours'), this  group shows that they are at home in a variety of vocal styles.  As an added bonus, Uptown Express is joined by award winning Broadway, concert and recording star Karen Mason (MAMMA MIA!, HAIRSPRAY, and SUNSET BOULEVARD) on Julie Gold's million-selling, Grammy Award-winning anthem 'From A Distance'.

Uptown Express features Christopher Caswell, John DePalma, David Gurland and Brad Parks and is surrounded by some of New York's top musicians. Produced by Emmy and Mac Award-winning producer Paul Rolnick, an integral part of the group and CD is its musical director and arranger James Followell, who also performed piano and keyboard duties. Recorded at New York City's Avatar Studios and Kaleidoscope Sounds in New Jersey, 'Take You There' is available on the Web at uptownexpressnyc.org, cdbaby.com, and amazon.com and by download through iTunes.
