Tony Winner Laura Benanti to Star in NBC's 'Go On' Pilot

Broadway favorite Laura Benanti has been tapped to star in NBC's 'Go On' pilot, according to Deadline.com. The Tony winner, who recently appeared in NBC's 'The Playboy Club,' will star opposite Matthew Perry in the Scott Silveri comedy.

As described by Deadline, the series focuses on 'Ryan (Perry), an irreverent yet charming sportscaster who, trying to move on from a loss, finds surprising solace in the members of his mandatory support group.' Benenti will play a tightly-wound support group leader.

Portraying compelling characters in Broadway theater, television, and film has made Tony Award-winning actress Laura Benanti a stage and screen favorite. In addition to her Tony-winning turn in Gypsy, she also earned Tony nominations for her roles in Swing! and the revival of Into the Woods opposite Vanessa Williams.

Her Broadway credits include Gypsy (for which she won a 2008 Tony Award), The Wedding Singer, Nine, Into the Woods (Tony nomination), Swing! (Tony nomination), and The Sound of Music, and most recently In The Next Room which had a short run this season and closed in January. Off-Broadway, she has appeared in the City Center Encores! production of Wonderful Town and Time and Again at Manhattan Theater Club.
