For one night only, travel back to 1679 Rome to party with The Shrill Collective for Aphra Behn's brilliant battle of the sexes that confronts love, lust, and the perils of the patriarchy... all still relevant over three centuries after it was written.

On Saturday, October 14th, The Shrill Collective will host a night of theatre and charity with two back-to-back performances (7PM and 9:30PM) of Aphra Behn's classic farce, "The Feigned Courtesan" at The Matthew Corozine Studio Theatre Mainstage.

All proceeds from tickets and refreshments will be donated to Girls Write Now, an organization that mentors underserved young women to find their voices through the power of writing and community.

The Feigned Courtesans follows three virtuous young noblewomen as they seek to take their fates into their own hands. The sisters Marcella (Jordan Randolph) and Cornelia (Hannah Seusy) are bound for a loveless arranged marriage and the convent, respectively. However, they are determined to end up with their beloved English cavaliers, Fillamour (Andrew O'Shanick) and Galliard (David Gottfried). Laura Lucretia (Danielle Jordan) is contracted to marry their brother Julio (Jason Williams), but she happens to be in love with Cornelia's beau. Disguising themselves as courtesans, all three find power and freedom to wield their sexuality-- though not without some classic cases of mistaken identity, intrigue, and farce.

With direction by Chelsea Feltman, assistant direction by Kristina Cole (Billions, JustFab), and music by Timothy Phillips Lenard, the cast features Danielle Jordan (Broadway's Follies, Cinderella Nt'l Tour) , Jordan Randolph (Magnet Theatre), Hannah Seusy (Anais Win Goes to Hell), Jason Williams (Dreamgirls Korean Nt'l Tour) Andrew O'Shanick (Pitch Perfect, The Office), David Gottfried (Big Fish), Ashley Croce (World Premiere Rear Window), Michael DeSouza (Off-B'way's Once Upon a Mattress), Ted Wold (2 time Leon Robin Award winner), Toney Brown (Theatre for the New City), Erin Dahl (L'Oreal, Newtown Arts Company), Lynda DeFuria (Fancy Nancy), Chelsea Feltman (Gramercy Opera, Jeopardy), Tom Hausher (420: The Musical)

The show is set for Saturday, October 14th, 2017 at 7PM & 9:30PM (2 shows) at Matthew Corozine Studio Mainstage || 357 W. 36th Street, 2nd floor. Tickets are $15 (1 drink included) and will be available at the door, and online now at thefeignedcourtesans.bpt.me.

The Shrill Collective is a group of female identifying artists striving to affect positive change in their community through the performing arts. They seek to create space for women's voices and issues to be heard while raising funds for charitable organizations through intimate readings and stagings of contemporary, classical, and original works. The Shrill Collective was founded in March 2017 by Kristina Cole, Ashley Croce, Erin Dahl, Lynda DeFuria, Chelsea Feltman, and Allison Wilkes. Starting out as 6 female artists in a New York acting class looking for a way to channel their post-election emotion, The Shrills have already raised thousands of dollars for The Reproductive Health Access Project and Safe Horizon with their past two productions.
