'The Ritz' Engagement Ends 12/9

Roundabout Theatre Company's limited engagement of The Ritz will play its final performance on Sunday, December 9 at 2PM. This revival of Terrence McNally's comedy The Ritz stars Rosie Perez (as Googie Gomez) and Kevin Chamberlin (as Gaetano Proclo) and is directed by Joe Mantello at Studio 54 on Broadway (254 West 54th St).

The Ritz will have played 30 preview performances and 69 regular performances.  Previews began on Saturday, September 15, 2007 and opened officially on Thursday, October 11, 2007.  This limited engagement was extended one week through Sunday, December 9.

The cast also includes Brooks Ashmanskas (Chris), Ashlie Atkinson (Vivian Proclo), Ryan Idol (Patron), Patrick Kerr (Claude Perkins), Lucas Near-Verbrugghe (Tiger), Terrence Riordan (Michael Brick), Seth Rudetsky (Sheldon), Adam Sietz (Abe), David Turner (Duff), Lenny Venito (Carmine Vespucci), John Bantay (Patron), Teddy Coluca (Patron), Mark Leydorf (Patron), Matthew Montelongo(Patron), Nick Mayo (Patron), Angela Pietropinto (Aunt Vera), Jeffrey Evan Thomas (Patron), Josh Breckenridge (Patron), Justin Clynes (Patron), Andrew Cooksey (Patron) and Dillon Porter (Patron).

The Ritz features choreography by Christopher Gattelli.. The design team includes Scott Pask (Sets), William Ivey Long (Costumes), Peggy Eisenhauer and Jules Fisher (Lights) and Tony Meola (Sound).

"The Ritz is an over-the-top comedy that takes place in a bathhouse in Manhattan. When Gaetano Proclo needs to hide from mobster Carmine Vespucci, he escapes to the Ritz. When Gaetano realizes the Ritz is a gay bathhouse and not a Turkish bath, he pretends to be a big-time Broadway producer to keep suspicions low. When Carmine locates Gaetano what transpires is wild, manic mayhem," explain press notes.

The Ritz plays Tuesday through Saturday evenings at 8:00PM with a Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday matinee at 2:00PM. www.roundabouttheatre.org
