Douglas Carter Beane's hit play The Little Dog Laughed will extend its run at off-Broadway's Second Stage (307 West 43rd Street, off Eighth Ave.) for four more weeks, through February 26th; the play was to have originally closed on January 29th.The play, a Hollywood satire, opened on January 9th. includes a Hollywood agent, her very promising, up-and-coming boy-toy
client, a sexy young drifter, and the drifter's girlfriend," according to press notes. The show stars Julie White, Johnny Galecki, Zoe Lister-Jones, and Neal Huff . The taboo-busting show, which is directed by Scott Ellis (Twelve Angry Men, She Loves Me, the upcoming Entertaining Mr. Sloane) drew some buzz for featuring a closeted movie star as one of its characters.Beane, who is a founding member and the artistic director of the Drama Dept., also penned the plays As Bees in Honey Drown, Music From a Sparkling Planet, White Lies and Devil May Care, as well as the book of the musical The Big Time and the screenplay of To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything Julie Newmar.
