On July 9th, New York based Anglo-Trinidadian jazz vocalist, Tessa Souter, has bon voyage duo gig with Legendary guitarist Gene Bertoncini at 55 Bar (55 Christopher Street). There will be two sets, one at 6:15 PM and later at 8 PM. There is no cover, but there is a two drink minimum.

Recently returned from a smash hit tour of Belarus, where she sold out three concerts in three days and taught a master class at the prestigious Belarus Academy of Music, followed by a critically acclaimed Midwest tour, Souter is a riveting live performer transfixing sold out audiences from the Blue Note New York to Beirut to Moscow and beyond.

Her first CD, the self-produced Listen Love (Nara), won critical raves for her "crystal clear voice and diamond cut phrasing" (Philadelphia Inquirer) and "direct, soulful sound" (Village Voice). Her sophomore CD, Nights of Key Largo, recorded on Japanese audiophile label, Venus, with all-stars Kenny Werner, Billy Drummond, Jay Leonhart, Joel Frahm, and Trio de Paz's Romero Lubambo, won Swing Journal's coveted Gold Disc award. And Tessa is much admired by her fellow musicians. She was mentored for four years by legendary jazz vocalist Mark Murphy.
