Tartaglia Guest Stars in St. Vincent's Benefit, 7/13-7/15

Avenue Q star John Tartaglia will perform as the special guest star of "Music Makes the Best Medicine."  Starring Vincent M. Scarpinato, M.D., it will be performed from Thursday, July 13th through Saturday, July 15th at Danny's Skylight Room Cabaret (364 W. 46th St. between 8th and 9th Avenues).

Presented by the St. Vincent's Players in association with Calvin Klein, the evening will be a breast cancer benefit supporting Gilda's Club NYC.  Directed by Eric Armstrong and with musical direction by Patrick Barnes, it will star Scarpinato, as well as feature Armstrong, Glen Heiss, Wendell Laurent and Kent McIngvale.  Scarpinato is a surgeon at St. Vincent's Hospital, as well as co-founder and Executive Director of the St. Vincent's Players.

"Music Makes the Best Medicine" will also include Joel Dabu on cello, Michael Kelly on bass and Kyle Osmera on sax. 

Tartaglia received Theatre World and Clarence Derwent Awards for originating the roles of Princeton and Rod in the Broadway production of Avenue Q; he also reprised his work in the recent Las Vegas production of the musical. An accomplished puppeteer and veteran of children's TV, he previously worked on "Sesame Street," "Animal Jam" and others.  Other theatre credits include the benefit concerts of Hair and Children of Eden, and the Encores! staging of Carnival.  He also stars on the Disney Channel's "Johnny and the Sprites."
