As reported on BroadwayWorld, Glenn Close will make her West End debut as Norma Desmond in the English National Opera's April production of Andrew Lloyd Webber, Don Black and Christopher Hampton's SUNSET BOULEVARD.

Close won the 1995 Best Actress in a Musical Tony Award for her performance as the faded film star, and Andrew Lloyd Webber declares, "I am thrilled that London audiences will at last get a chance to see Glenn's performance in the role of Norma Desmond which was so hugely acclaimed in the USA."

Sadly, New York audiences will most likely never get a chance to see the Norma Desmond Patti LuPone brought to the West End premiere production of SUNSET BOULEVARD after the controversy surrounding which actress would be selected to open the show on Broadway, but there's no doubt that both of these great theatre artists will be thrilling audiences for years to come.

Don't compare, just enjoy both of these concert performances of the score's soaring ballad, "With One Look."

Sunset Boulevard will open on 1 April 2016 (press night 4 April) for five weeks only. The full ENO orchestra will appear on stage alongside the cast in this semi-staged production. 400 tickets for every performance will be available for £25 or less.

Glenn Close, making her West End debut as well as her first reprisal of the role for UK audiences, plays faded silent movie star Norma Desmond, for which she has previously won a Tony Award, a Drama Desk Award, a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award and a Dramalogue Award for the Broadway production directed by Trevor Nunn.

Further announcements regarding cast and conductor will be made in due course.
